Hmm...yes, it's a sad statistic Riki, but I think the money is a big factor - plus of course it's not an easy job. You are at the coal-face the whole time...a lesson ends and in troop the next lot! You don't go out for a fag or discuss last night's telly over the coffee you've stopped work and made. And working from home??? Haha... It's all too much like hard work.
Another thing I notice - people just don't like kids these days. Fewer and fewer want to have them - much less teach them!
However, my son says he can't think of any career with greater job satisfaction. He loves it (and kids love him)

Honestly, what would you knit them for! On the other hand, good to see eccentricity is not dead! I couldn't read the article so I don't know if the Morris Dancers jig about naked doing their foll dolly diddles or whatever.

It is now becoming clear that most of the people in Ireland claiming asylum were already there before they claimed asylum. E.g. medical student from Afghanistan who discovers father has been arrested at home or knows she can never be a doctor in Afghanistan etc.
They are definitely not all coming across the NI border.
The numbers are small compared to other European countries.
