Rikki, this was rarely happening anyway. Female only wards have existed forever and patients have been able to ask for a doctor of the same sex for donkeys years. I am always surprised that transmen never seem to be part of the conversation. In cases where staff feel a person may be a disturbance or a concern they normally allocate them a side room. Always been the case. This is just a news story but not a real life story.

Yes. I think it's an example of common sense prevailing - as has always been the case.
However, my neighbour's daughter - a midwife - was subject to a disciplinary for calling a trans man who had just given birth, 'the mother ' She was devastated and left a profession she worked hard to join, and heaven knows we need midwives....now works in a IVF clinic. The biological angle is fact, not fancy.

I see Gov have lost track of thousands of illegal migrants - sorry but I find that far more annoying than them coming here in the first place.

What did we expect. I've been banging on about this for ages. You can't do this stuff with phone calls and AI, you need staff on the ground. It's no good saying someone is living with their cousin in Cheltenham, unless you go and see them and meet them regularly, check out the family and make the person report to the police station every week. The family in Cheltenham should also have to pay a bond or be liable for them remaining at the home and not running away. Criminally liable, possibly even to the point of being sent back to their original country if it is proved they have colluded to allow this person to take on a new identity and disappear or they were being paid to say this person was a relative. That happened up here recently. A family were found to have been advertising their spare room to people from their home country who had the same surname as them, claiming they were coming here to marry someone. Obviously they weren't, once here they were getting new ID and disappearing. They were making a fortune.

Such sense Hildie. That is the very thing this country is no good at. And I do NOT mean this government - it would be the same with any. We just don't have the mindset. Or is it will? Just can't be arsed...
I notice when I type your name, my predictive text always changes it to Hoodie 🤣

Is Sadiq Khan re-elected because he has the Muslim vote?

No, there aren't that many Muslims in London. His policies are decidedly secular.

You do not. However like all clubs and groups I suppose it helps to be at least aspirational that you are almost middle class.
There are many Muslim Tories, as there are people of all races and creeds
Political grouping can be geographical e.g. in wealthier suburbs there are more likely to be more Tories. In places like Knightbridge etc there may be more wealthy people per head but as many of these could also be foreigners, how many are entitled to vote is up for question.
The further right or left wing you get this is less obvious but someone at the top is usually controlling this e g Tice/momentum.

I haven't bothered voting this time for any candidates, C19 made a right mess of our economic situation , I think had Corbyn 's lot been in they would have made a pigs ear of it too. We had never had anything like this since WW2, that took over 50 years to pay back our debts, now we owe trillions, what is the answer if people think any real changes can be made now?

Don't know about Muslims - but generally I would say Khan has the (Labour )migrant vote. We went to town on the train last week and closer to inner London (generally) the larger the ethnic population who would be voting Khan. It was marked that all the other boroughs voted Hall (even though she appeared absolutely useless) simply because of ULEZ. It's in the outer boroughs where it's been most negatively felt. A single parent childminder pal of mine had to get rid of her non-compliant car as her son goes to a school just inside the zone. Her wealthy brother who inherited the family farm in Ireland (and sold off loads of the land to the equivalent of the Forestry Commission) So kind-hearted - he LENT her the money to get another... A lady visit (MS) has a regular carer who has always come to her. The carer lives over the border - again, "sorry, can't come anymore' Another pal of mine now pays the gardener's ULEZ as well as his pay for the job! It's poorer people it's hit.
I voted for Khan and he's been absolutely useless. Never accepting responsibility and always blames the government. Ha.. it'll be interesting to see who he blames with Labour in power...
