Canada has now legalised cannabis for recreational use, and a party of our MPs have been to investigate how it is working. They are recommending that we do the same Backing them is the American owned company that supplies most Canada, needless to say rubbing their wallets at the prospect of rich pickings here We are going to pot
Someone's going to make a profit - we are living in a capitalist society - and better them than criminals.
Theresa May's husband had an investment in a company that grows cannabis, which is then exported, so he (and she) make a profit from it.
In 2014 May tried to get a section from a report on cannabis removed that said that there is no indication that a tough drugs law acts as a deterrent. She's not interested in evidence, just prejudice: which is why medical cannabis is so hard to get here.
I agree Aub, have long thought that our government should cash in on the demand, legalise and tax it like tobacco with a nice earner going to the Treasury

Johnson is playing dangerous brinkmanship, anything for his No Deal and our exit from the EU to satisfy the Tory hard right. Ultimately I think he wants an election to increase his majority and allow right wing policies He should remember Ted Heath going to the Country in 1974 on a "who governs". The electorate told him - not you!!

I watched parliament yesterday. He is incapable of giving an answer. How were the Tories stupid enough to elect him?

Either he has a "cunning plan" or is so stupid to get into this mess As I read it the House will now pass a not on your life "No Deal" Brexit so he will go for an election. However under this fixed term Parliament act he needs a two thirds majority of MPs to call one, and he ain't gonna get that Heard some legal expert say that there is a get out clause in this act which is the request is rejected the PM can table a one line amendment which only needs a majority of one. Is this his end game? He could also ask the Queen to refuse to give her assent to any of these acts dreamed up by the opposition, apparently Tony Blair did that once Either wat Corbyn and Co are looking increasingly stupid, they have been screaming for an election but now they see the current opinion polls they are going to vote against having one Perhaps a military coup is our only answer

This is now an impossible situation, we cannot have an impotent government of any hue. They must be able to govern or we will finish up powerless. This silly fixed term parliament law needs scrapping, they must be able to call an election when necessary and let the voters decide

It's quite fitting though that the law has come back to bite the Tories on the arse. They ought to have foreseen something like this happening.

The nation sits back and lets the Conservatives do as they please. Last weekend thousands upon thousands of people took to the streets to protest against leaving the EU with no deal. I can't help thinking Theresa May will be reclining somewhere peaceful with a G and T in hand, smiling and grateful that someone else is getting all the flack. Mrs May tried to please everybody. Boris is pleasing no one.

Boris is supposed to be super intelligent, a classics scholar and all that. I can't believe he has walked blind into all this, there must be a cunning plan
