Glasses: I've had it with Specsavers. Useless unusable glasses and several in my circle reported the same. It's the lenses...poor quality and inaccurate. So, I went to a top-reviewed optician locally and they were VERY good...I am pleased with the glasses - but 500 quid plus 🥺...not cheap. I spoke to a fellow parishioner on Sunday and he told me he got TWO pairs online (varifocals etc) for about 150 quid. I have never done this. Have you? I get mine from here. www.glassesdirect.co.uk/eyeglassesBasically you measure your favourite glasses, overall width, nose bridge width, the overall length of the side arms and the with between your pupils or you can pick average, and finally your prescription for your left and right eyes to put in their relative boxes. Easy peasy innit? That's quite a palaver Rik. Meself, I couldn't be arsed...🤣

Another bright morning with lovely blue skies. Then there was the Coffee Morning at work raising money for MIND. All good intentions shot to pieces by a cheese scone, a slice of Black Forest Gateau and quiche to take home!!!

Gorgeous morning here: bright (and fairly warm) sunshine and blue skies, with just a few wispy white clouds. I saw a (non-white) butterfly from the kitchen window and from the dining room window a squirrel sauntering across the lawn - the first one I've seen in our garden for years.
Went out to check on the overnight washing, which was nearly dry, and watched the red kites wheeling overhead. Glorious - "but somewhere across the world the sun can never rise, for the smoke and the dust and the lies that burn the the children's eyes".

A lovely autumn day here too, though I'm not going out. I was going to wash the windows and sills but I have the RSV jab tomorrow and my wife doesn't want me doing anything outside today in case I catch cold. So it's a day of dvd watching for me.

Just back from a little run out to Rustington. There’s no point going too far as walking round, well anywhere, is a no no. Mr T has had the week off and it would have been a good week to go away but, again, no point as sightseeing is not possible. Apparently it’s rain tomorrow but better Saturday and Sunday. A bit of garage tidying up is called for.

It has clouded over now, but when I walked up to Asda via the sloe route, and stopped to pick some berries in Swallows Meadow, the sun was blazing down and it was really warm. Got to Asda just as Mrs Tickle drove into the car park, which was handy - she brought the shopping home and I meandered back through the woods. Saw lots of mushrooms, including some Helvella Crispa, aka White Saddle. At one point I was bent over at the side of a path to get a better view of the fungi and a young student on his way home from school stopped to check that I was alright. So considerate, and a heartwarming moment.

Evan after looking up what a slow looks like I think I would be too worried about picking them. That also goes for mushrooms.

Evan after looking up what a slow looks like I think I would be too worried about picking them. That also goes for mushrooms. Sloes are very distinctive and grow on blackthorn trees. We've started using them to flavour our kefir water. I'm chary of picking mushrooms - need to get a foraging handbook. There are, or have been a lot of chestnuts around this year. Shame Mrs Tickle and I don't like them.

Mild and murky here at the moment. Rain forecast but maybe not much. Friday is swimming day. Mrs Tickle reports that the showers are back in service, which will be nice - for the past few months we've had to make do with the cold shower next to the sauna and steam room.
