It's lovely seeing the sunshine and it is warm once you're in it, but it was only 7 this morning driving to work. Tonight they say it will drop to 4 degrees. Brrrr! I am not complaining. I got the towels out before I came to work. What happened to the conkers? I don't know if this is just a local problem or a national one. At the beginning of the growing season the three trees at college were overflowing with potential conkers. We were very happy as one of the staff makes lovely soap and bath gel from them and we all go out collecting them for her. Now they have gone, they appear to have shrivelled up and withered. Each tree only has about 6 or 7 conkers on it. Is this because it was too wet? Anyway, such a shame. I wonder if it's happening where you are,. Plenty of conkers here in Royal Berks - more than once I have narrowly escaped being hit on the head by one - but many of the trees look very sorry for themselves on account of an infestation of horse chestnut leaf miner. I'm intrigued by the soap making enterprise. Maybe I should try making some washing liquid to see if it works better than the soap nuts we use - but I doubt I will.

Hi everyone, it will be equilix day tomorrow. Sun, 22 Sept 2024, 1:43 pm Autumn equinox today. Equilix isn't that stuff for horses? The equinox is upon us, but I'd never heard of equilux before. I assume that's when there are 12 hours between sunrise and sunset. According to the BBC weather site, sunset on Tuesday will be 12 hours and 2 minutes after sunrise, whereas the gap on Wednesday will be 11 hours and 58 minutes. It's depressing to think that the hours of daylight are reducing by nearly half-an-hour a week - and the miserable weather makes it even more so. I'd never heard of Equilix before, either, but that is less surprising.
