Our local independent garden centre does a wonderful Christmas shop. I always treat myself to a couple of new decorations. I like Gisela Graham fairies, because they are like fairies not angels. I got some last year dressed like 1950s housewives, so cute. My tree will topple over eventually. I like Christmas Cake, Mince Pies, marzipan fruits, chocolate ginger, and all the bits that go with Christmas. I have crackers already! This year I'm doing a Halloween tree at college. I have been making felt ghosts, spiders, bats and pumpkins to hang on it and have a felt black cat on a broomstick for the top. Pumpkin lights from B&M look fab too. It's a white tree, so everything should stand out. We must have fun in winter. Sainsbury's had some of those lovely fake candles that are like pumpkins and toadstools to go around the bottom. A lady after my own heart. I, too, love Gisela Graham ornaments and usually buy two for my granddaughters. I love, cake and mince pies but I don’t like marzipan. Mum loved chocolate ginger chocolates - not keen myself. We’ve never done Halloween, but I love autumn and have loads of bits and pieces to put out. However, for me, not until the autumn equinox on 22nd Sept. I’m clinging onto summer with my fingernails. Must look in Sainsbury’s, now I have my blue badge I can get close to the store and if I can grab a trolley at least I have something to lean on. It will be a short walk around the store. You are so right, we must have fun in winter.

We're kind of doing an autumn/Halloween/harvest festival mash thing at college. I'm doing the tree, another person has been making cushion covers for the reception that are all autumn colours with leaves embroidered on them. Someone else is doing autumn hanging baskets with corn and berries etc.
All a bit random, starts October. Then we have some wicker baskets where people can donate foodie stuff for the Minster collection. Some of the students will take it down.
We have brown, rust, red and gold crepe paper for streamers too. I'm not getting up the ladder though.
Somehow it will all come together.
My children are grown up but I still post them an advent calendar each. Stupid probably, definitely lovely and fun though.

Really lovely day yesterday and it looks like a repeat today. Over did it on Monday by daring to go round two shops in the morning and was totally exhausted and in pain for the next day and a half. I am now on my consultants NHS list for the pins and screws op in my back. I know I will have to wait for, well, however long it takes but at least I’m now in the system. [The maximum waiting time for non-urgent spinal surgery on the NHS in England is 18 weeks from the day the hospital receives the referral letter. This is known as the referral-to-treatment (RTT) standard.] Hi rikii, I’ve just found waiting4atickle on here on poems and sport. I’ve often wondered what happened to him as he disappeared suddenly.

I hope tomorrow morning is dry, as I have to go for a dental check up. It will take me a while to walk(hobble) there. The warm weather has been lovely. I have managed to do a few things I have wanted to sort out for a while. Leo has been funny abut his food and drink lately. I was starting to get quite concerned, so I weighed him today. He is now 12 pounds, he was 10 pounds when I got him in June, now my mind is at rest that he is not fading away. My uncle Dan always used to say that he was fading away to an elephant if we inquired if he was losing weight.

Morning all: Yesterday was lovely, got lots of washing dried too. But, it's batten down the hatches from today. Next week is forecast to be quite cold too.

I think this weekend is going to be stormy according to predictions. I have just finished the latest book by Richard Osman, it's called We Solve Murders. It is a sort of cosy murder mystery - if murders can be cosy. I enjoyed it despite the fantasy element to it all.
