Althea, you're doing well. That's how I showered my wife when she came out of hospital, with a bin bag tied with elastic. Yes, a lovely day today, I'm painting off and on, prefer to do an hour most days rather than rush at it. It kills me all that bending down, the top parts are no trouble. My wife had the new RSV jab this morning, the nurse said to ring the surgery If she had any side effects, it's a new jab and that they weren't sure of any side effects as yet.

Morning all: We're having the weather we should have had in July and August, not complaining though.

It's lovely seeing the sunshine and it is warm once you're in it, but it was only 7 this morning driving to work. Tonight they say it will drop to 4 degrees. Brrrr! I am not complaining. I got the towels out before I came to work.
What happened to the conkers? I don't know if this is just a local problem or a national one. At the beginning of the growing season the three trees at college were overflowing with potential conkers. We were very happy as one of the staff makes lovely soap and bath gel from them and we all go out collecting them for her. Now they have gone, they appear to have shrivelled up and withered. Each tree only has about 6 or 7 conkers on it. Is this because it was too wet? Anyway, such a shame. I wonder if it's happening where you are,.

No, I have conkers dropping from the tree above my shack on to my gently sloping roof. Perhaps the rain came at the wrong time for you. Ours were further on when the rain came in the South West.

Another bright day here and it's very welcome. I am waiting for British Gas to come and install some smart meters. I do have one, but it doesn't work.

Brilliant day, changed the bed again. All washing done and dried outside on the line in no time at all.

Really lovely day yesterday and it looks like a repeat today. Over did it on Monday by daring to go round two shops in the morning and was totally exhausted and in pain for the next day and a half. I am now on my consultants NHS list for the pins and screws op in my back. I know I will have to wait for, well, however long it takes but at least I’m now in the system.

[The maximum waiting time for non-urgent spinal surgery on the NHS in England is 18 weeks from the day the hospital receives the referral letter. This is known as the referral-to-treatment (RTT) standard.] Interesting. Thing is I’ve gone the private route from being referred by my GP, with initial consultation, MRI, another consultation, a procedure which only worked for 10 days (I knew the risks but thought it worth it), another chat, and then some X-rays and a chat. So all 8n all I’ve paid for all of that. We agreed that the next step would be the op we had previously discussed. Mr Harvey then had to discuss my case with other doctors to make sure they all agreed that was the way to go. So now I’m on his NHS list (I would find it very difficult to pay for this op) but have no way of knowing how long it will take. However I am virtually packed and ready to go 🤣.

Our local independent garden centre does a wonderful Christmas shop. I always treat myself to a couple of new decorations. I like Gisela Graham fairies, because they are like fairies not angels.
I got some last year dressed like 1950s housewives, so cute.
My tree will topple over eventually.
I like Christmas Cake, Mince Pies, marzipan fruits, chocolate ginger, and all the bits that go with Christmas. I have crackers already!
This year I'm doing a Halloween tree at college. I have been making felt ghosts, spiders, bats and pumpkins to hang on it and have a felt black cat on a broomstick for the top. Pumpkin lights from B&M look fab too. It's a white tree, so everything should stand out.
We must have fun in winter. Sainsbury's had some of those lovely fake candles that are like pumpkins and toadstools to go around the bottom.
