I've been to a coffee morning/Taizé workshop in preparation for our benefice service in Washford Abbey on the last Sunday of September. In our halfway break we had a very interesting discussion on Latin masses, abbeys and monasteries as places of social enterprise. A diary found in Exeter Cathedral archives describing day to day life in the English Reformation.
My gardener who was going to come today rang to say he was stuck on the motorway, so I went shopping after putting a load of washing on. It was still going on when I got back so I put the bedding out and brought in the towels. My friend rang 3 times and we had a long and satisfying conversation.
I made a couple of salad rolls in the gap between calls. Quorn 'ham' and Dijon mustard tastes nice.

Morning all: Another month over, only about 16 weeks to Christmas now. Perish the thought.

Morning all: Back into the world of the living today. I miss my routine on a Sunday, no signs of an Indian summer yet.

My neighbour got me out of bed to drive him to an appointment, so I'm off to a roaring start. I have a load of washing to go out and the weather forecast is misty but muggy until early evening. I can see the sun trying to come through so I'll risk it. Nothing to wear otherwise.

What a miserable wet morning we had here! Persisting down. It has actually stopped raining now, but the sky looks full of more to come. I have been overdoing things a little and have been suitably chastised by my children and friends. I had to make the most of the hot weather by washing everything I could find. I am really exhausted now and for the last two days. It takes so long to get my mojo back these days.

Hi all, I got a nudge in the early hours from mrs cut-out, I'd left my side of our electric blanket on number two.

It’s been very nice today, not too hot, no rain - result. Trotted along to aqua, had a laugh with out little gang, will probably suffer tomorrow, hey ho, if I don’t keep a bit active I may just as well take to my bed.

Dry and 14 degrees here this morning. My foot is hurting more than usual which is a surprise. I'll try to keep off it a bit more until Monday when I go to the hospital.

I'm back. I have had bubonic plague!!! No, not really but I have had this adeno-flu virus that is doing the rounds. It was not just a cold. This virus is extra special, it gives you proper flu, vomiting and diarrhoea all at the same time. I was expecting a plague of boils three days in but I got a cold sore instead. I sincerely hope nobody catches it, I am still as weak as dishwater and flumping in a chair as soon as I get in from work. That doesn't help but I've already lost a week's pay so I have to drag myself in. They say stay in bed and rest, but someone has to go out and get more tissues and paracetamol, someone has to clean the bathroom several times a day and someone has to change bedding and wash towels to stop yourself lying around in infected sheets. I went to the pharmacy. You know these new ideas where the pharmacist can see you and prescribe things - well, the best she could come up with was trying Vick on my chest. Amazing - as if I hadn't already been doing that, I'm old enough to know that bit of advice. Anyway through the worst of it now and I lost 5lbs.
Stay off you foot Althea, we always think we're not doing much but we generally are doing more than they tell us to do.
