You could ring the supplier and tell them you want a replacement because it doesn't 'do what it says on the tin'. They might explain then how to make it work. Or get the grandchildren to show you. We got our 5 year old out of bed to show us how to work the video. She didn't mind a bit.
As long as the fabric softener compartment has something in it, no doubt it will work. Try white vinegar it softens towels quite well. My machine was driving me mad by flashing 9 at me until I realised I had overloaded it and took out a bath towel. Then it worked perfectly.
I hope you've got the sprouts on for Christmas. They should go on at Easter really.

Julia bought me a digital watch for my birthday , the instruction on how to set it up and get it going were printed in a tiny booklet in the usual twenty-five languages much to small to reasd. It sat on the seat staring at it hopelessly. My youngest (9 then) must have sensed my plight. "Want me to set it up for you ,Dad?" I nodded and mentally blushed. He took the watch pressed the tiny button , set all the features and before finishing asked if I wanted the alarm daily. twice daily or every hour. Been downhill ever since (he's 43 now)

After many years of this kind of thing, our joy was made complete when on her 18th birthday I handed a child proof pill container to our daughter and watched her struggle to open it. Then a couple of days later the confusion on her and her boyfriends' faces as they puzzled out the lockable fuel cap on our car.
I am still wondering why the instructions on pots of unguent intended to roll back the ravages of time on my face, are written in tiny tiny writing. I just need to know what it actually is. "Night Cream" or "Day cream" would do fine. If it is for strawberries I can slap it on my face anyway - and the strawberries, but it wouldn't be so good to try slapping night cream on scones.

Shoot that man for mentioning the "C" word. Then revive him for posting White Rabbits. Love you really, Ron. Leo has been sneezing a lot since he came here and it was beginning to worry me. Then I got the little grey cells working. I used perfume until Friday and my house is quite perfumed by silk flowers I have sprayed with a bit of perfume from time to time. I have thrown all the air fresheners out and I have washed all the silk flowers - which was a huge undertaking. I was surprised how strong the scent of them was. They have no scent now and I have rearranged them all. I threw a bowl of pot pouri out of the hall and I shall buy perfume free hair spray in future. I used to buy it years ago, but lately I have just been using anything I could get from HB. Funnily enough, my little sweetie pie has not sneezed for a while. I do love perfume, but I love him more.

🤧 Atchoo! Bless you. I wonder if these things are affecting him because his surroundings are all new? He will probably get used to your home's smell/scent after a bit.

Ah yes, we've had different smelly's in the house, Air Wick etc but each one has some sort of effects, either headache or sneezing. Best to do without. In the summer we tend to cut a lemon and an onion in half on the window sills, it keeps the wasps and flies from coming in.

Blimey 1st of July and I have my dressing gown on watching Portugal v Slovenia. Went to the pub for France v Belgium, they're doing 3 courses for £20 with a drink throughout the Euros and I thought why not. Had to put the heating on for an hour when I got in. Full on drizzle in the pub car park.
Kick off was 5pm so it was pretty empty apart from people who must have been to the park with their dogs.

Morning all: We had the heating on for an hour yesterday and I guess the same again today. So unusual for July.

I haven't been brainwashed into filling my house with these unnecessary ,expensive products . My grandparents/parents lived happily without them. Ever questioned if/why we need them?

My heating is on every morning for 2 hours and from teatime to bed time. I am wearing winter clothes. I am "piglet sicklet" of the cold weather. (That's something my mother used to say.) I am also wearing my big furry dressing gown, not my silky kimono. I love perfume , it is one of life's great pleasures for me. Our grandparents also did without supermarkets, electric washing machines and microwaves etc. but I bet they would have had them, if they had been available. My little sweetie is lying on the sofa instead of lying in his bed beside me in this room. He obviously prefers absolute comfort to being near me. It's good because it means he is feeling more confident and not clinging to me.

I'll give you a review when it arrives.
