Morning all: It's more like autumn here now, very dark mornings and leaves are falling from the big oak trees that surround us.

I was called to the doc following a blood test. Levothyroxine needs an increase in dose, plus I am pre-diabetic...but so is the world and his uncle. I asked about this and she explained that's because they've moved the markers so more people come into the category...and I am only just in it even now. I 'spose it's all part of NHS focus to prevent illness, so no bad thing. So she said don't lose any sleep over it, just watch your carbs.
She didn't think much of sweeteners instead of sugar though, and said try and go without either...🤔

It's nice to have it confirmed that they have moved the goalposts on prediabetes. I wish it wasn't a stick to beat us with. I do have health problems but my diet doesn't affect my tendency for colds to go on to my chest, or having to abandon a trip out because of cramp in my shins affecting my driving.
I like deep dark brown muscovado sugar on some things, but I don't take sugar or sweeteners in drinks and don't add sugar will he nil he. I drink tea and coffee black, but enjoy butter and cream in reasonable quantities. I have worked hard to achieve a good relationship with food. If I want it, I enjoy it in moderation without externally applied guilt.
I have read shocking and frightening things about synthetics in food including Aspartame, so real food is less of a risk. I really don't know why calorie controlled diets became a thing. The very mention of the C word makes me want to binge until I'm overflowing. Or did when I was still able to be manipulated.

Agree Rwth. In fact she went in to say "Well, you've reached this age without much in your medical history - so don't take a lot of notice" She went on to remind me that nobody goes in forever (🙄as if I needed telling) while suggesting how long I might have left, saying that I shouldn't really complain.
It was a very pragmatic conversation.😂

Your doctor must have magic powers, maris, if she predict how long you may have left. Twelve years ago, my oncologist predicted that I had a 47 per cent chance of living five years. 12 years later, I'm still here. The truth is, that no one is guaranteed a tomorrow. We must all do what we can to stay as healthy as we can and live the best life we can. Anyway, if you can't take it with you - I'm not going! We spent a good night ,all things considered. I was told Leo was house trained, but he wasn't really. Training began in earnest last night ad has progressed well today. His coat is very silky, maris. I keep telling him how beautiful he is when I cuddle him on the sofa. Mid morning, he went to sleep in his bed in the lounge and he was flat out. That lets me know he is feeling safe already. He is apprehensive outside, but he is very good on the lead. All things taken together I have a wonderful dog here. He is a fussy eater and he's very thin. This mornings he had scrambled eggs for breakfast and he will have mashed beef casserole tonight. He won't touch the dog food I got him. It's James Wellbeloved Lamb and Rice. It's specially for senior dogs with delicate tummies and I though I was onto a winner, but no. I have bought everything new for him from Amazon and have hammered the back account. I think he's worth it though.

Yes I know what you mean, In 1979 I sold our three bedroom house for £35.000. I believe it's been sold twice since then, the latest for £250.000.

It is a chilly 13 degrees here, but we've already been out for a good walk. Yesterday ,while sat at my comp desk, Leo came and wanted to get on my knee. I had him on it, but struggled to type with one finger while I held onto him. He is lying in his bed waiting for me to finish, so we can have cuddles on the sofa. he is patient and so sweet. He is more interested in food today, his mouth must have been sore after he had some teeth out. He needs soft food , but it's no bother, as I do too.

I'm past the age when I could sever things with a clean bite. Low resistance is what I go for these days. I wouldn't allow a doctor's wild guess about my life expectancy to weigh on my mind. I have decided that I shall be around at least until I'm 90 with the prospect of an early warm bath if I'm not that lucky.
Your little dog seems to be bonding well and understanding your need to type sometimes. As long as he can be near you will do fine with extra cuddles.
Out of interest, prices haven't changed all that much in my old avenue. A house we bought in 1980 for £22,650 and sold in 2014 for £155,000 is still in the same hands. Other houses in the vicinity are going for £220K - £355K ish. One neighbour who seemed to be on his last legs in 2014 seems to have survived a while. His house didn't sell for another 6 years, though maybe his cousins let it out for a while. I do not miss being there and was happy to leave for my new life here.

We're managing to wash the clothes in the new washer but trying to find how to tumble dry is a nightmare. We tried and tried this morning but it kept going to wash. In the end I took the washing to the laundrette to be dried. I need to find someone with the same machine to ask how to tumble dry.
Our daughters all have an ordinary washer but our is a washer dryer, Hotpoint. I've watched endless videos on You tube but though they're handy they don't show how to tumble dry only.

No spot on the dial just for Drying then? If it's one of those tech machines I sympathise. A friend of mine has one of those. She doesn't want to use softener on some washes, but the machine won't start unless you fill the compartment 😐
