I hope your condition is improving, Rikii, but isn't that olds rather than news? Fairly cloudy here this morning with scarcely a breath of wind. Going into Reading later for an interview with PensionWise: how exciting is that? Even more excitingly, I think we're going to look at dining room furniture afterwards, as we've arranged to send back the stuff that was delivered yesterday. Hi tickle, my health is taking a nose dive right now, my doc changed hospital's anti biotic and I am still walking around bow legged, with no end in sight right now, I have a urology appointment on next Monday, if I can hold out.

I have been on the computer changing my house insurance this year. I did wonder if it would be worth all the faff to save money. I have been on for over an hour filling out forms. What a palaver! I have been with Leo from early on, as he is clinging to me today. He is feeling sorry for himself as I had to take him to the vets' yesterday to have his anal glands emptied. The vet was really callous about it and he screamed, bless him. I could have slapped her when she put a muzzle on him very roughly. She said she didn't want him to bite her. I explained that he has no teeth so that would be unlikely. He is off his food and very quiet, all he wants is to sit with me. Another letter from HMRC, they must really love me!!

Riki, I do hope things improve soon. You are really going through the mill. I would say "keep your pecker up" but that would be inappropriate at the moment. (Cheesy attempt to make you smile. )

Yes, take it easy Ron and Riki. I'm having a baking marathon for the College Christmas Fair. 6 cakes out of the oven and now I'm having a cuppa while everything cools down. Then it's cheese straws and an experiment. I have bought Christmas tree silicone moulds so you get an upright cake tree. We will see about that later, lol! How did the bake sale go? Sold out in an hour and a half! We had to send someone out for fancy biscuits.

Went to see Conclave today Hildie, so I look forward to your opinion 😁 Hi Maris, I felt it went the way a lot of Harris's books do. Started well and went out on the ridiculous. I haven't read all of his books but the ones I have ended stupidly. I sometimes wonder if his wife doesn't say "Come on we're going to Miami next week, get it finished" and he plonks any mind boggling idea into the end. I felt the cinematography was good in parts, the oppressive feeling of those horrible marble rooms and dark corridors. Couldn't see why their bedrooms had electric shutters on them - do they really, I doubt it. There were cheap shots e.g. cardinals standing about smoking dropping the fag butts on the ground, scenes of immense amounts of food in kitchens. I thought it got over the stress of the whole procedure and I don't know but I presume that was factual. The different personalities vying for position were well drawn. It didn't seem to mention that Lawrence at one point was leading the vote - but I had almost given up and gone to the loo at that point. I'm afraid the end was utter tosh. I went straight into previous Obstetrics & Gynaecology mode on it and thought, nah. It doesn't work like that. Either those ovaries and uterus are not working and haven't developed since birth in which case any doctor would tell you to get them removed because they would pose a risk of cancer. This happens and it has no bearing on any other sex organs, just like some women can have two wombs and so on. Modern medicine would say the surgery is imperative. We were supposed to believe that this young man entered a seminary none the wiser because outwardly he looked and functioned like all the other young men, then he had emergency surgery at about 35-45 to remove his appendix where they found the ovaries and uterus - highly unlikely. Here were two organs that he had no knowledge of but that were working and giving him a genetically female test result. Bollock Maris, utter rubbish. Either he had no symptoms because these teen tiny organs had not developed which means he was male and as male as any bloke born with an extra finger on their left hand, or they were working and he'd know something was up before he was 45, because he would get period pain, he would potentially have slight bleeding from his penis and he would probably have developed breasts. Harris is very bad like this and deserves a good slap sometimes. Still at least we didn't have to suffer one of his badly written females this time. We are usually given massive stereotypes and very one dimensional characters and women whose behaviour is out of kind from the rest of their gender at that time. Mind you Faulks is very guilty of that too. I did tell Harris this at Edinburgh Festival, when he was talking about his latest book of the time. He gave me a sort of throat strangled laugh and glared at me. Overall the end and some of the other cliches spoiled a good film. Anyway what did you think?

Just had a few words with the GP. I've waited 8 days for a prescription, he's sending out another this afternoon. His excuse was that their Fax machine wasn't working so had to rely on a van driver to take the scripts around to pharmacies. Then some of the items were out of stock.
I said so that leaves me an ill patient waiting 8 days and more after having my appointment and diagnosis for treatment.
So, I'm waiting to hear from our local pharmacy now, I wouldn't mind betting that will be another couple of days.

I do hope the meds arrive soon Ron.

Good grief Ron. I do mine online and they send them online to the pharmacy. It would have been quicker for your GP to post them or ask if you had anyone who could collect them. If I have an appt on the phone they just ask which pharmacy I'm registered with and send it online to them. If it's in person you can either have the script then or they send it online to the pharmacy.

Conclave Hildie...
Well - for a start I have not read the book - nor indeed any of his, although Bob loves 'em. Thankfully, he hadn't disclosed the ending... On some levels, I thought it was very good and enjoyable. Visually I found it a real treat - all those sumptuous vestments - I did wonder what will happen to them after 🤔 Odd that you should mention the fags and mobiles as a cheap shot - I really liked that and found it amusing as it juxtaposed the real world with that solemn and ancient tradition with all its protocols being played out there. I thought the acting was first rate and what it did portray well is the current divisions within the church: believe me, there are a few very vocal and critical cardinals hoping that liberal Francis is on the way out (health) so Bellini wanting to continue that and embrace the future with Tedesco wanting to turn the clock back is actually spot on. Of course, I am watching it as a Catholic and I wonder if that makes any difference in terms of engagement with the whole thing...what I mean is, would anyone other than a Catholic be that bothered in going to see it? Now the farcical ending: if I had made any presumption on the denouement - that would've been the absolute last thing that would've crossed my mind! It was preposterous. Now, I don't have your background Hildie, but even I thought that a man with internal ovaries had been producing female hormones, then at puberty they would definitely started having an impact on development. As you say, if they were just vestigial, then would likely have shrivelled and remain inactive. Without any knowledge, I just knew that whole scenario was a nonsense. In summary, I did enjoy it and the rest of it carried the thing for me: the best moment was when Lawrence said the biggest sin is certainty. If you are certain, there is no need for faith. I have thought about that a fair bit... I would love to have been with you when you challenged Harris; that laugh of his was definitely one of nervousness 🤣

I couldn't agree more with you both. The amounts of communications we have these days we shouldn't have to wait long.
Has anyone compared prices of property with The Move market? I was just looking at the prices some of the properties have gone for down our patch recently. It says that our property is the 6th most expensive private dwelling in Nort Wales. Is that good or bad, not sure. But it has quadrupled in value since we bought it.

It was sumptuous and very well acted. The script was genuinely better than I thought it would be and I expected factions and whispering in the quadrangle etc. Fiennes was excellent. I just get frustrated when people think we need a wow/shock ending. They could have simply elected a genuinely good man and one everyone was happy with.
