We were properly had with the Loch - so many threads in it that led nowhere in the end... the doctor and his love child, the murderer and his black psycho buddy, wolves...all padding. Petrie goes into his secret room at the end, and....? "Transfer to Glasgow..." Yeah, we need a doe-eyed mum copper racing round the streets ..in a crap car, shouting at nothing. The last scene was quite exciting though. I'm relieved its over ๐ Caught up with this tonight, what a load of shite! I found myself giggling away at the ridiculousness of it. Laddie in jimjams charging round the countryside, very odd doc, weird farmer and his weirder wife, a murderer with a new name caught on the news which was then topped rifle toting deranged teenagers (or not as it turns out) in a tiny village by the side of Loch Ness. The only credible often cited but never seen character in this sorry effort was Nessy herself!

Yes we are! We won't see this weeks as I'm at a friend's but will catch up. The wife is a cold fish and hubby will a bit creepy I thought. I've decided it's the niece's brother, we shall await to find out. ^^^ Great Norty. Will look forward to an exchange on this. I had to laugh in episode one when she picked him up from the hospital... He said "I don't like you" She replied "The feeling's mutual" ๐๐๐๐ Finally got to the end tonight! ๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ฑ Well Maris, what do you think? There was not one character that was nice enough to root for, they were all horrific. Thoroughly enjoyed it though but MrN and I cried "Oh no" as the credits went up. MrN went looking for the next series info online...

Well I found out that the series has sixteen episodes but BBC in their wisdom (??) decided to halt it after 12 '...to be continued' when- in six months time? will I care by then? will you? Even so, there was always something sly and creepy about his smile, eh? I'm glad Alicia has a pulse.. However, most unsatisfactory to leave it there.

That is very annoying! If they leave it too long we will have lost the thread, it was complicated enough from week to week.
What a nasty, nasty bunch of folk, although I do believe we began to se a slightly softer side to Alicia.

I read a couple of the books (Robert Galbraith aka JK Rowling) and really I am mostly interested in the portrayals.

Any of you watching Top of the Lake? I enjoyed series 1 and about to embark upon my recordings of series 2. Are people really as awful as that in NZ and Australia? ๐จ Doesn't make me want to rush there...

Are people really as awful as that in NZ and Australia? ๐จ Doesn't make me want to rush there... I really hated what I saw of it. The NZ one looked lovely, but no one behaved at all rationally in it, with any coherence: one scene needs one kind of reaction, and another needs a different reaction, which does not follow on from the first.

You didn't stay with it then? I agree with your view on emotional reactions and that stayed right until the end. It was intriguing though - and weird!
I'm going to give series 2 a go....

Will there be wizards, spells, and owls? She puts another hat on - not one that suits her as well, imo. The BBC love her. They even televised Casual Vacancy - terrible novel and even worse TV drama. However, Strike is an interesting character and there's that "will they / won't they?" thing going on with his office assistant, which people usually like.

Cuckoo Calling was good in a corny way (just like the books, which I have read) But how any author could settle on the name 'Cormoran Strike' beats me! Some of the acting was appalling - the worst being Martin Shaw ๐จ - he should know better...

I was lost in it, most went over my head and haven't a clue what it was all about Typical Rowling, lots of characters with weird names makes you spend all your time trying to remember and figure out who is who Will I bother to watch next part, will depend on what else is on
