Having now discovered that Johnson, Gove and Farage are serial liars, do the people who voted to leave not feel cheated? No. Because I didn't vote to leave because of anything they said. A lot of people didn't.

If you listened to the post referendum interviews, they all seemed to be influenced by what the Leavers said

Just been listening to Heseltine on the radio ranting that many people who voted Leave only did so to kick Cameron out/stick two fingers up to mid-term govt/or didn't understand the consequences.
He (and Ken Clarke, two big ol' cannons) is saying the new leader should go back to Brussels, renegotiate, and overturn this ridiculous decision!!!!!

"Brexit live: thousands 'march for Europe' in post-referendum protest
People take to the streets of London and other centres across the UK to demonstrate against the vote to leave the EU"
www.theguardian.com/politics/live/2016/jul/02/brexit-news-live-thousands-march-for-europe-in-post-referendum-protest
I suspect that if the referendum were held again now that voters can see the dreadful consequences of leaving the EU, the result would be totally different. I'm guessing that Remain result would be in the high seventies. Only die hard little England xenophobes and Farage's fascist zealots would vote to Leave At least the LibDems have seen sense, they will include remaining or rejoining the EU in their next election manifesto

A load of blue rinse women in the Tory shires were interviewed on TV, they are all rooting for Theresa May because she is a woman and they all have fond memories of Mrs Thatcher

Gus, I disagree with your view of a Leave voter. I was on the cusp of voting Leave myself and I am none of the things you describe. My misgivings about the EU being undemocratic and additionally, that we have precious little influence considering our contribution, remain my belief. In your scenario, many with similar views might still vote Leave. Stereotyping is never completely accurate.

I'm glad that you thought about your voting intentions, and I respect your decision However, everybody I have spoken to and seen interviewed all trotted out the Farage anti immigration line having become convinced that we are drowning in foreigners - not true

I voted Remain Gus but most people I know voted Leave and none are racist, although, unlike you, they do see uncontrolled immigration as a problem, and there's no denying it is; but I don't believe there's an easy way to control it, so I could not see the point of voting Leave for that reason.
In fact, I spoke to a businessman I know who voted Remain, specifically to continue to utilise cheap labour. He laughed and said "It's brilliant" - of course, he lives in a substantial house in a private road.
To me that is just as despicable as the Farage-loving louts

Dole? Should be no necessity to be on the dole if you're qualified in a trade, but you can certainly be undercut by somebody who's doing the job cheaper. It's business I know but it rankles when you hear someone saying, why should I take on somebody just because they are a UK citizen when I can get a guy from Lithuania to do it so much cheaper. Even his own daughter has fallen out with him over it!
