If you have not yet reached saturation with opinions, I thought this one very interesting... opendemocracy.net/anthony-barnett/blimey-it-is-brexitQuestion Time this evening 6.30 has Anna (she who NEVER shuts up) Soubry (remain): Diane (oh so soothing) Abbot (remain): Giles(Loose Canon, Guardian) Fraser (leave): Paul (UKIP - need I say more...) Nuttall: Alex (all referenda void) Salmond (remain) and Dominic Raab (Conservative, never heard of him, leave) I could write the script for that Question Time, we know exactly what each is going to say Oh dear, it clashes with football on the other side - how sad

It was the responsibility of an idiot, one of many on both sides of the argument, it seems. One of the EDL, wasn't he?

You can say what you like about Gordon Brown....he's not a board member There were times when he was an idiot, but there were times when he showed great talent. I liked his speech before the Scottish independence referendum. But then I am a sucker for that kind of thing.

It appears this petition may not have quite as many genuine signatories as it first seemed.

The government must distance itself from UKIP when going forward now. Thankfully they only have one MP..and he's a fairly reasonable bloke, but we should remember that Leave and UKIP were two separate bodies. In fact, I see UKIP as an irrelevance now. Hopefully, a new leaders for both parties can be sorted without people clamouring for a general election....the last thing we need is Farage riding the Leave wave. Let the country find its feet and let UKIP sink.

You've got a sense of humour, but that ain't funny!
Question Time was heartening tonight. At last, a desire to stop raking over and move forward. I felt relief...even Anna Soubry was reasonably reasonable!

I am disgusted with the behaviour of many of our politicians. What is needed now is a strong government who will not kow-tow to European threats. As far as I am aware there is a trade deficit in our favour between the UK and Europe, we buy more from them than they buy from us. And any negotiations for the future should use that if necessary. I really hope it is not necessary.
People are stating that our security is at risk. What they fail to tell us is that the biggest security organisation in Europe is GCHQ and they share an awful lot of intelligence with our neighbours. As was sadly seen recently the Belgian security services are weak in that the police do not share information with other Belgian agencies, there was no co-ordination. Does anyone in their right mind think Europe will refuse to share the intelligence they have if the result is a lack of co-operation with GCHQ?
We are told that funding for all kinds of things will be curtailed. We are shown film of various re-generation projects all ‘paid for’ by the EU. We are told that funding for universities will be cut, that our agriculture will suffer as EU grants will no longer be paid. What utter nonsense. The money for those projects was drawn down from the money we paid in, the £350million. Are the people who are making these claims seriously suggesting that miraculously the EU paid us more than we put in? Utter bollocks.
As for the second referendum, that is an insult to the millions who voted to leave but who are now all being told they are xenophobic racists. Tony Blair is one such, you know, the man who told us we had what was it 15 minutes warning of an attack by ‘weapons of mass destruction’ So the people who are calling for the second referendum (the ones that lost the referendum) are intending to keep calling asking us to vote until they get the result they want? I saw that a few years ago in Cyprus.
Politics is now degenerating into little more than mob rule, and it should stop. We as a nation are a lot better than that. I had little time for Cameron but he did what I think was the right thing to do, he resigned because he realised it would be impossible for him to negotiate with Europe from his strong ‘remain’ standpoint. And if for nothing else I admire him for that.
What we need now is a government who will not be bullied by our neighbours. They should not accept some sort of trade off, any sort of trade off. If Europe wants to impose tariffs they should understand that these things work both ways. I don’t know who will lead that government. I hope it is not Boris because although he is highly intelligent and can be very articulate I don’t think people will take him seriously and he has actually been damaged by the campaign despite his side winning. It needs a real statesman, and sadly those are a bit short on the ground.
