Ellie Reeves was on this morning (Chairman Labour) talking about Starmer's speech later. I couldn't believe the thing she launched into, at length, was the fact that it was to be delivered in the Rose Garden and reminded everyone that was the venue where Dominic Cummings talked about his 'drive to Barnard Castle'
She chanked on, of course, with the usual 'Tory-mess' blame. For heavens sake, don't they realise how dull and pathetic this kind of response is. What else was typical was, when asked about 'trust in politics' and recent favours granted to a very generous party donor, she said "Oh I'm not aware of the situation with that so I couldn't possibly comment"
Anyway as Starmer is alluding, it seems we are in for an 'austerity' government - oh yes, a bit like Osborne taking over the empty Labour coffers. And so it goes on.

Going back to Theresa saying "There is no money tree" Johnson and co seemed to find one , stripping it of it's assets and not for the public good. The abuse of public money whilst people are condemned to food banks is despicable.

That must've been as a result of misrule as well, going on that premise.

The economy is growing, and better than expected so we must've been going in the right direction, (not that they will acknowledge that) yet straight away, despite the supposed 'black hole', Labour awards £9 billion worth of pay rises. I don't see how that helps.
If there's a black hole then pull your horns in but instead, they will be getting those of us with 'broad shoulders ' to shovel cash in.

From your posts, you always seem to be quite a Labour fan. Me, I have no faith in any of them. They say one thing then do the other - like now - "no tax rises" - which they were obviously going to do all along.

I would argue that Starmer hasn't got the hardest task at all, dealing with C19 now that really was the hardest task Starmer is a liar with his claim not to raise taxes, they threw billions at some trade unions while knowing that money wasn't like a settlement or going to stop those from striking for more money in the future.

I was listening to a German MEP in the radio just now speaking about Starmer's visit there. He's insisting a reversal of Brexit is not the aim - but then before the election Starmer said 'absolutely no tax increases ' (other than those outlined eg VAT on school fees) yet here we are being told to expect the worst. 🫤 Not that a Brexit u turn would frustrate me as I voted remain. It's just the saying one thing and doing another that makes me sceptical - again. The MEP was hoping for open visas for German under 30s but no 'free movement ' He couldn't see how there could be cooperation on illegal migrants as Germany have the worst migration problem in Europe but thought we should have stronger links on defence, in the light of Russian threats (good)
