Never mind commenting on us, seems it's pretty momentous down your way Arena. Do you have a vote ? How do you feel about the mood music in France?

Never mind commenting on us, seems it's pretty momentous down your way Arena. Do you have a vote ? How do you feel about the mood music in France? Gosh so many questions. My son who is living on the Swiss/Italian border (Locarno) has been experiencing horrendous weather. In the more mountainous regions the torrential rain has resulted in landslides. Some areas on the Italian side are cut of from the rest of the world , apart from helicopter. I have no vote in the national election but this year I am permitted to vote in the UK elections. I filled in all the papers on line but my voting papers have not arrived yet. I like French music of the Piaff/Brell era but not keen on the modern stuff. Same for British pop music. Loved the old rockers also Glam Rock but my greatest favourites are Dire Straits and Chopin

However, nice to know you can vote. Is that because you have British citizenship?

Myself, on principal, I thought this was positive if he means going home instead of going for drinks with colleagues after work etc. Nothing is more important than family. However, surely, in an emergency, he'd have to pass on the family dinner? One would hope so

There was an excellent programme on C4 on Monday called Skint. An excellent (and quite low key) Financial Times chap outlined why the country is broke. It was easy to see where things went wrong over the years and more importantly, where nothing was done to address them. Increase of productivity leading to economic GROWTH was the elephant in the room. He didn't see either party addressing that... Recommended viewing (enlightening, if somewhat depressing)

However, surely, in an emergency, he'd have to pass on the family dinner? One would hope so Well that was what he said. He is always contactable, he just aims to be home for 6pm on a Friday for a big family dinner and an evening with his children, close family and friends. I think we don't need to know what PMs are up to on an evening when there is no official events. Johnson spent almost every weekend at Chequers, because it was secure and he could meet up with friends and family. We are not told how often Sunak has a weekend in Yorkshire and we don't need to know. People suggesting that there is too much for a PM to do, have it wrong. They have to be able to do things like go to the GP, see their parents, visit a friend, go to their children's school or sporting event. We don't need to know if one of the children is sick and they've gone home a bit early. Or they've nipped up to the flat for 40 winks before an evening do sitting next to some foreign dignitary through 4 courses of tedium. They will have a security detail, they will have people who know where they are. I don't think Starmer or any PM is going off grid for weeks with no phone signal. I expect they have a family holiday arranged and they should go on it. It was very wrong for this private information to be leaked.

I think Starmer's Friday night dinner priority is a non-story.

There was a news item last night about undecided voters - there's a lot of them out there. The commentator said that would normally be interpreted as a sign of apathy - not so. People are mistrustful of all of them. It's a sorry state of affairs.
Listening to Starmer's 11th hour pleas yesterday, he kept repeating that his was now a 'changed' party though he didn't qualify how. Did he mean no loony left, no anti-Semitism. He didn't say. They have certainly had a sartorial make-over - very smart, lots of power dressing going on. It made me think back on their old leaders - Wilson, Foot and Corbyn - none what you might call elegant 🤣
Yesterday evening, coming out of the station, I was approached by the Reform candidate (they are doing a lot of canvassing round here) He was very personable - I just wished him luck in the end. Of course, I am tactically voting to keep him out...
I read a comment from a Labour treasury advisor yesterday who said they will probably target wealthy pensioners, saying they shouldn't receive the state pension as well. I wonder what he means by 'wealthy' ?

Just had a look at Election Night presenters. BBC, definitely NOT. Channel 4, definitely NOT. ITV will be my choice - Tom Bradby with Sturgeon (🙄) Osborne 👍 and Balls 👍👍

Well the British public fell for Starmer's bulls**t Baffles brains philosophy, with a few tasty mp's getting the boot too. IMHO the British money tree has lost all its leaves and all the remains of it is its skeletal reminder of its own failure, deadwood and other acorn needs planting?
