Alston is the nearest town (about 5 miles?) to Slaggyford where we were staying but we drove to Hexham race course on Saturday (that took about 45 mins) What a course...wild..you said it! It was really cold and windy but once it started raining it was testing everyone! Some didn't stay and the bar was chokker! Was that in the Saturday you had your fish n chips? While we were being soaked and blown to bits?🤣 I do love your part of the country though Hildie...just beautiful. And the people are smashing... 😁😍😁

It is only 13 degrees here and pouring down (well, we could do with a drop of rain here, I don't think.) Unfortunately my foot and my back are playing up today. Managed a very short walk with his nibs.

Where is this weather from Spain we were promised? No sign of any warmth as yet.

Yes, Althea and Ron..this rain is getting me down. Funnily enough, it feels warm to me. I came out of if the supermarket this afternoon and with all those chill cabinets in there, it actually felt warmer outside! Having been away since Thursday, I have got to cook my own dinner tonight. What a blow 🫤

Went out just after lunch: the sun was shining and it had warmed up considerably - had to take off my fleece within minutes of getting off the bus. Walked to Woodley via Highwood and South Lake and somehow found ourselves at Crumbs Cafe. Walked back via South Lake and the nature reserve, by which time it was clouding over again - and my gammy right knee was starting to feel quite sore. Think I'll rest up tomorrow.

Yes, Maris it was on Saturday but it didn't rain on Sunday either.
Rained a bit at tea time today and looks like it is going to clatter down tomorrow.

We haven't seen many wasps this year, maybe the weather. No Daddy long legs either. Roads are flooded again, it just hasn't stopped raining all night. I was awake at 2am listening to the rain battering the windows.

Rain overnight and more forecast, but the sun has just come out and it's lovely at the moment.

I was awake at 2am listening to the rain battering the windows. There seems to have been a dearth of insects in general this year. Hardly any butterflies, and the bees were very late appearing on our lavender. We have certainly had a few, although not many Daddy Long Legs: I know this because Mrs Tickle has a phobia about them. And I hear from a farming contact that there is an outbreak of bluetongue disease in the Midlands and that's an insect-borne viral disease, so there are obviously some of those pesky insects about.

I only popped out with the recycling, and then stayed in. A night with Olbas oil has released the pressure from a lung congestion, so I'm not having heart attack symptoms.
I like rainfall. We used to have to put out baths and buckets in the attic, but that was a minor inconvenience. We lived on the rain shadow of Wales, so when it got to us there wasn't as much left.
