Dreich here and windy with it. Forecast to stay that way for the rest of the day and not get any warmer till tomorrow. Miserable.

I forced myself out after Church and brought in the washing. When I went to bed it was pouring with rain. Perhaps a blessing after my gardener's assistant cleaned out my gutter on Saturday and a spray of mud defaced the side of my car. Some of it seems to have been washed off, but I'll have a go at it when I go out to a meeting later.

May your Mondays be short and your coffee be strong. (That's a Welsh wish, well it's from my house.)
So very cold today and my foot is not very good today. I am trying to be patient, but I'm not good at it.

Considering they kept saying it was warming up this week, today has been very cold.

The wind dropped and it wasn't raining so Mrs Tickle and I plucked up the courage to go out for a breath of fresh air. We wandered up to Asda via the nature reserve, the bluebell wood and the Sally Army coffee hub. There are masses of mushrooms around at the moment and Mrs T even managed to spot the fabled dead man's fingers. The Scotch mist was slightly thicker when we walked home, but wasn't too bad, and it wasn't too cold, either - in fact I was starting to overheat by the time we got home, carrying all those bottles,

Considering they kept saying it was warming up this week, today has been very cold. The BBC and the Met office both agree that it's going to be 5 degrees warmer here tomorrow than it is today - and warmer still on Wednesday.

Dark and dank this morning, hopefully it will cheer up later. We should have gone out yesterday to watch a bit of racing. All geared up, picnic organised, chairs in car etc but Mr T work up and had several dizzy spells. Unfortunately that scuppered any chance of driving to Aldershot (about 45 miles) and although I could have driven he wouldnt have enjoyed the afternoon. Dizzy spells passed by early afternoon so I had a very disgruntled Mr on my hands. Not sure what caused it but DiL (sister in A&E) thinks it could be ocular migraine or vertigo as she suffers from the same thing. Off to have tea and chat with my friend a bit later, slow start this morning. Going to make my mincemeat and put the fruit to soak for the Christmas cake this afternoon. Will do the puddings on Wednesday or Thursday. Sorry to hear about Mr T, hope he's feeling better now. What do they race at Aldershot? Stock cars? Hot rods? Tanks?

Stock cars, super stox; national hot rods and (if we are really unlucky) bangers.

Morning all: It is a tad milder this morning at 10C at 4am. I don't mind a little rain as long as it's not too cold.

Liked the pic of the Dead Man's Fingers...I should think this weather is perfect for fungi...very damp and not too cold. Sorry to hear about Mr T Toots - just as you were on your way to the racing.
Speaking of racing 🏇 that's what we did at the weekend...at Hexham (up your way Hildie) absolutely bloody freezing, blowing a gale up there and lashing down rain. Mind you, I came out about 12 quid up on the day 😁 We stayed at Slaggyford at a swish inn there... A very long drive home so a bit shattered today.
On the way up north, we stopped at Gainsborough (which I think is where Aubrey came from originally 🤔) I had in my mind it would be a quaint little village - it was massive! It is funny how you have an image of a place in your head, but it's totally different when you get there. It's good to acquaint yourself with the geography of this land though. To whit, the road from Barnard Castle to Alston was one of the most spectacular I have ever driven along. Wild!
While we were away, we didn't switch on the TV or radio at all. Back home, a catch up and wishing I hadn't. Depressing 🫤

Just been outside to see what it's like. It doesn't feel significantly warmer so far and the sky is a uniform grey. At least it isn't raining.

I know it well, my uncle was a shepherd for one of the estates that way and we used to have summer holidays up there. It was lovely at the coast, we were sitting outside having fish and chips at the beach.
