I bet you're glad that part's over now Riki, they will keep a close eye on you now to see how it's healing. Well done on going through that. Onwards and upwards now. I'm going back in on Monday Ron , hopefully it's just a redressing job?

Damp and dismal here this morning, but not actually raining. I now have a full blown cold: feel a bit weak but you should hear my rendition of Wandering Star.

It's lovely and sunny here too. Spam reminds me of camping. Slice of spams fired with beans and tomato and a wedge of fried bread. It's not fabulous but compared to those Goblin Meat Puddings or Fray Bentos Pies my father liked it's way up the league. About 50 years back, two pals of ours were recently married and they proudly invited us round for a meal. It was a Fray Bentos pie. However, Judith didn't know you had to remove the tin lid - and when she opened the oven door, it looked like a football in there! Kevin very gingerly took it out into the garden, put it on the grass where it promptly exploded, meat and soggy pastry everywhere 🙄🙄🤣🤣

Gorgeous here at the moment, hardly a cloud in the sky. There's a lovely autumnal smell outside and lots of insects on the ivy bloom. Mrs Tickle went for a walk with one of her mates at 7:30 this morning and tells me it was really lovely, with mist rising from the lake. I wasn't even half awake at that time. I don't share the fascination with washing, but our machine is currently on. Friday is free swim day so I'll be strolling up to the pool today. Might take the scenic route. As I observed before, you DO live it up..Mrs T as well by the sounds 👍👍

I have taken his nibs out for a walk in the pouring rain. I didn't dissolve, so it's OK. I didn't really want to go out this morning, but I couldn't resist his hopeful little face and those big brown eyes. I also bought a couple of things in the Amazon sale. They are for my granddaughter, who is suffering with acne at the moment. I hope the things I got her will help.

The first time I had friends round for a meal, I decided to start with pea soup. After a long time simmering, it seemed very thin, so I had a brainwave and added a little cornflour. After lots of stirring, it still hadn't thickened, so I added more cornflour. When our friends came, my husband asked if them if they would like one slice or two of the pea soup. It was a running joke for years.

Poor Riki. That sounds really invasive - the head and face are such problem areas to treat - such thin skin. Trust it's healing well. I see you're usually in a hat 👍 but from now on, in the open air, essential.

After a busy day yesterday, I changed the toilet seat for a new one that I had suddenly not wanted to open in case it was the wrong size/fit. It looks quite smart being slightly darker pampas than the ceramicware. I thought I had stripped the thread, but in the absence of tools (wrenches and pliers), I managed quite well with my fingers, a damp cloth and flat headed screwdriver to achieve the change.
Just a few hours of music practice and I'll be ready for anything.

It's unbelievable , you can ask it any question and it will instantly give you a full answer I tested it first on "Alexa who was Humphrey Bogart married to?" It gave me a list of his four wives including dates. It will play music , tell you the time , contact you with the live news , in any country....etc.

I bought two Jig Saw Advent Calendar Puzzles in the Amazon Prime Day.
Every day you open the box and take that day's pieces out. I pass on last year's to one of my daughters. You have to be careful and take a photo of the the jigsaw before you open the box and the jigsaw after so that you more or less put the same pieces back into the box for that date. Well, you only have to do that if you want to use it as an advent calendar again. I find it a really happy thing to do in the dark horrible run up to Christmas.
Mind you I won a bottle of Tia Maria in the Harvest Raffle at work, so I may imbibe and jig-saw and the same time.

I use ours for music all the time. Radio Caroline Flashback is very good... I do find it a bit disconcerting when Alexa calls me by name 🙄🙄

I don't have Prime - you need to buy everything you need on there in order to justify the subscription, don't you? If I want anything, I put it in the basket until I have a number of items...you have to spend iver 35 quid now to get free shipping.

There's more to Amazon Prime than free delivery, with their music and video channels - we watched a film on Prime the other day. However, some of their so-called offers are risible: for instance, their Prime Day deal on Vitabiotics ultra Omega-3 is touted as 53% off at £4.73 - I bought exactly the same item in Asda last week for £3.85. In fact I bought 3 of them for £7.70 as they have a more or less permanent 3 for 2 offer on vitamins - and we get 10% off because Mrs Tickle sold her soul to them. We have an Alexa thingy but never used it much on account of her being a spy. She stopped working a few years ago when we changed our ISP and has been turned off ever since.

I had a ring on the doorbell with a friend wanting to teach him how to use his laptop and download word processing software. We connected to the interweb, downloaded an all singing all dancing Office program, started him on opening and saving files, and good document housekeeping. I gave him a spare USB wireless mouse and sent him on his way rejoicing to play Patience, Mah Jongg or Free cell until he's got the hang of it. He was a journalist before he retired.
Now for music practice, then food.
