We have been in Venice for a few days - it was 24Β° , though I am gratified to see it is now lashing down there as well π We probably wouldn't have gone - my brother and sister in law were insistent we accompany them, on account of my Italian (as if you need it there..) However, speaking the language does oil the wheels considerably and you get treated better as a result. Ron: Your shopping trips amaze me. I did go into Dunelm though and bought one of those 'Teddy' throws for my pal whom I shall visit this week. She has Parkinson's and feels the cold something dreadful. I also bought three sharp stainless steel knives in there and annoyingly, they develop rust spots. Grr... Althea: Leo's little coat. Sometimes we babysit our friends Yorkie, Rosie. She obligingly stands on her hind legs to allow you to get her coat onπ Riki: Ooh, I do like that picture next to your boiler. Though the boiler itself is also very attractive π€£ Interesting reading Waiting's posts - he lives it up...but carefully π I don't really live it up, maris - Mrs Tickle won't allow it. That said, we do have something rather exciting lined up during October - a guided tour of our local recycling centre. That doesn't really compare with a few days in Venice, but it should be interesting. Au contraire..I can't remember the last time I spent a night in a pub after midnight π ππ€£ You staggered home then? Are you a musician yourself? My brother is also a 'mean guitarist' and plays in a band at Blue Grass gig in a local each Monday. The punters love it. Long live live music πΆ

Another stormy day in paradise. My foot is hurting today. I think I stood in the shower too long. I will have to put my leg up this afternoon. I'm not as flexible as I used to be.

Well, at least the rain has abated now after a stormy morning.

Long live live music πΆ Sadly no, I'm not a musician, although I tap my feet enthusiastically. However, I know quite a few musicians on account of attending many an open mic over the last 15 years or so, usually with Grace-2 or Grace-3, who both like to perform. I remember being gobsmacked by the talent on show at the very first one we went to. There were very few open mics in those days, but now, when all 3 of our Graces have emigrated, there are loads of them, as well as plenty of other live music in pubs. I think I just about made it home by midnight last Wednesday as I caught the 11:30 bus. Had to pay because our bus passes aren't valid after 11 except at the weekend - which seems the wrong way around to me.

Morning all: A tad milder this morning and it's supposed to be a dry day ahead. My wife is going for a blood test to the path lab this morning.

Yesterday I watched chef John Torode in Korea eulogising about Spam fritters. Any comments?

I have never eaten Spam in any form. Ugh!
I am enjoying the series "Ludwig" starring David Mitchell (I'm a fan) and Anna Maxwell Martin. I love puzzles and this series has them in abundance. I particularly loved DM's book, "Unruly" about the history of kings and queens of Britain. I love his asides. It is dry but very cold and dull here today. Never the less, I have an urge to go out. I can walk really well in the big boot now (plenty of practice.)

It's lovely and sunny here too.
Spam reminds me of camping. Slice of spams fired with beans and tomato and a wedge of fried bread. It's not fabulous but compared to those Goblin Meat Puddings or Fray Bentos Pies my father liked it's way up the league.

Frey Bentos should be sued for calling them steak pies, I've seen more meat on a jockey's whip!

Hi all, I had a long awaited appointment with my hospitals dermatology department, I have a growing pustule on the back of my head. This pustule has now doubled in size since I was first referred in May, now it requires surgery, I was surprised to hear that my surgical appointment is next Tuesday at 11-am. I suppose another hole in my head might let a bit more air in?

Nice and sunny here as well. Quite warm out on the patio, but mainly because it's a suntrap at this time of day - I won't be going out in shirtsleeves. Since last Thursday's deluge, which caused widespread flash flooding in these parts, the weather has been pretty decent, in defiance of most of the forecasts.
I've been living it up again this week. Attended a monthly "Green Drinks" session on Tuesday and got home at the respectable time of 10 o'clock to find a police car parked in our close. A second jam jar turned up shortly afterwards. We're intrigued to know what's been happening at no. 4.
Managed to persuade Mrs T to go to an Open Mic last night. It wasn't quite as good as the last (and only) one I went to there, but pretty good nonetheless. We left early enough to beat the 11 o'clock curfew (which I probably wouldn't have done had I been on my own) so missed the end of session jam, which is usually the best part.
