Hi everyone. At last I have managed to get online. On Friday 26th July, i took leo for an early walk and on the way back, my neighbour from across the road came out to speak to me. Because he had had an operation for bowel cancer on the previous Monday, I didn't want him to exert himself by crossing the road, so I crossed over to him.
Previously, the council had dropped his pavement for him, but had left the edging stones sticking up into the road.
I didn't notice the edging stones and tripped over, falling heavily on my face. There was blood everywhere. Neighbours rushed out to help me.
I was unrecognisable and hurt. They helped me hop back to my house and my next door neighbours ran me to the local hospital.
I had two walking sticks, but my left foot was so painful, I
could barely walk.
When we approached the hospital everyone was standing out in front of it. My neighbour ran across to say she had an injured lady in the car and they told her to keep me in the car, as there had been a fire alarm and they were waiting for the firemen.
I had taken cloths but my bleeding nose was bleeding so much , I was apologising all the time for marking the car.
They drove me right up to the door of the Hospital and my neighbour asked for a wheelchair.
They said they were sorry, but it was being used, so in great pain I had to hobble to the waiting room.
About an hour later, I saw a nurse , who asked me questions and said I needed an Xray of my foot.
Unfortunately, by this time, it was lunch time, so we had to wait an hour and a half for the Xray.
The woman who did the Xray, was a sadist and pulled my foot into the position she wanted despite me begging her to let me ease it into position myself.
Then I saw the nurse again, who had sent my Xrays to the Orthopaedic surgeon at the Maelor hospital.
He wanted to see me on Monday morning.
All of my children came over the weekend and were very helpful. My youngest daughter stayed for 3 days and took me to the Maelor on the Monday.
They scanned my foot and when they were looking at the scan, I knew that I was in trouble because of their faces.
I have a very bad fracture between my first two toes. Because of the Osteoporosis, much of the bone was crushed.
I was allowed to pick any colour for my plaster cast which goes up to my knee. I chose pink.
Since the accident I have been in great pain, as I also have a cracked rib, but the foot is the problem.
I have to go back after six weeks for an Xray to see what is happening.
Over the past two days, the pain has lessened and I am beginning to feel myself again.
I am extremely tired all the time, but I am beginning to feel as though I am on the mend.
