I have an occasional shake in my left hand (I am left handed), so I too have done the airborne coffee thing on many occasions, Riki. I still cut my own toe nails and my own hair. I regularly give myself a manicure and face pack, while grooming any other bits that need attention. I am always surprised at women who have everything done in a salon. I would be embarrassed to have certain areas "tidied" by a complete stranger. At teatime, Leo is going to the vet for his second jab. I don't know how he behaves at the vets yet, so I'm hoping there will be no drama. My other JRT, used to have to be sedated at the vet's to get his nails clipped. It was the only time he ever showed aggression.

Do you remember where you were 55 years ago today? That was the day Neil Armstrong walked on the moon. I'm sure most people watched it live somewhere, part of our history. I never did. My husband wouldn't let me, or I thought it was inevitable. Last year, my niece and I were driving though New South Wales when we saw a sign for the Parkes observatory. She was a baby in 1969. but eventually grew up to head the government department in charge of the place, so I hardly think it was an accidental quirk of the route. It was a good visit. We went back to the hotel and watched the film "The Dish" by satellite, describing the major part the observatory had in relaying the landing on the Moon The American observatory went offline and couldn't be restored. I watched it again when I got back home and could hear it properly. I also went to Jodrell Bank to have a look round. Very much bigger and more impressive, but not as exciting. In the illustrated talk they inferred they also relayed the landing, but I think they were relaying it from NSW, not the moon itself.

She can do it just when they're sitting next to each other. Mind that is quite a sight, her dog is a Border Collie.

Morning all: Another muggy night for sleeping, warming up throughout the day. I'm fed up of the American election stuff on tv.

I've just been out to wax a bit of the car, it's far too hot to stay out now, 27C in the sunshine.

Lovely sunshine here and not too hot. It's 31 degrees in Berlin. I would find that unbearable. My sister visited me today, we had a lovely visit. Leo turned on the charm again and they love him. Now my sister is thinking of getting a little rescue dog, which IMHO would be really good for her.

It is raining here, but it was dry for a few hours earlier on. My neighbour has bought me some chocolates for my help while he was in hospital. I didn't do much at all, just kept an eye on his disabled sister. All the neighbours came together to support them. This is a nice place to live. My sister brought me a load of booze yesterday. She has made some lovely wine - all with fruit, not kits. Her partner advised me to put lemonade in the white wine, he said it will blow your head off. I hadn't the heart to tell her, I still have all the booze she gave me last Christmas. I will donate it to other visitors who enjoy a drink.

Yep, same here. Off and on spitting with rain. Though I did manage to dry all the towels earlier before it started. It's a tad cooler than it has been too.

A propos the hair cutting, I wonder where you begin? Since I am usually 100% dissatisfied with trips to the hair salon, I've a mind to try it ๐ค I am not a spa/beauty salon person either and my maintenance is all personal - ie done by me ๐ I walk past a salon/nail bar nearly every day and look in to see these ladies (and occasionally men) sitting having their hands, or feet, cossetted by someone. Momentarily, I feel tempted - but it soon passes.
