The National weather forecast doesn't even admit Wales exists. We are never mentioned in the daily forecast.

Hi all, my antibiotics are taking their time to work on my plumbing, I now have a hacking cough that's making everywhere else ache. I might try and get another doctor's appointment at 8-30 when the phone lines open?

If you can't get into the doctor's try there.

UTI's can be difficult to eradicate. I took Cefalexin for more than three years until a recent national supply problem forced me to try going without it. Thankfully, I was fine and I no longer take that horrible pink stuff every night. I hope it takes less time in your case, Rik. Good luck.

Hi all, I did get an appointment it was with a paramedic, he asked me a few questions then got the stethoscope on my chest and back, he said I had an infection in my lower left lung, he sent a prescription to my local pharmacy and I collected it within half an hour, two tablets initially then one a day for five days. I still feel rough but hopefully the tabs will kick in , in a few days?

A/Bs can make you feel worse before you feel better sometimes. A lung infection can make you feel awful. Hope it all gets better soon. I don't like going on about my health issues, but I had a nasty shock yesterday. The results of my last DEXA scan shows that my osteoporosis is worse. My bones are very fragile. I thought I was doing rather well. Now I must be more careful and walk with a stick. I've had one for a while, but don't want to use it. Now it is the sensible thing to do. I'm just a crumbly old bat!

I hope the antibiotics kick in quickly Riki, I had an awful lung infection a few years ago. We were visiting our daughter in Portsmouth while her husband was away on naval duty. I saw one pf the navy doctors and they drained my lung, it was horrible stuff the got out and I was on a course of antibiotics for a week. I was well enough to drive the 250 miles home within a week. My wife suffers with osteoporosis Althea, she's seeing a consultant in Gobowen later this month. She uses two crutches to get around and can't manage far.

We have been in Belfast for a couple of days; our principal reason for going was to see Caravaggio's 'Taking of Christ', on loan to the Ulster Museum (free!). It was just wonderful ๐ better and more impressive than I thought.
My impressions of the city though- the people, absolutely lovely, so friendly and welcoming. We went to some really good pubs and bars - the draught Guinness is a completely different animal, so s m o o t h ๐and we ate really well too. The surrounding countryside is all farmland and hills - and very green. The weather was wet and bloody cold! ๐ฅถ
We were staying in a Protestant area - which was obvious from the painted side walls of houses (not a couple..a lot!) all the banners and flags etc. It's clearly still a city with divisions. I now think all those calls for Ireland to unite are a non-starter. They would never wear it!
Loads of shops/businesses/offices were closed down and even new ones empty. Shipbuilding is gone but there still seems to be lighter industry still. Away from the centre, people seemed generally to be not that well off - plus I have never seen so many homeless as here. They have a huge drug problem. It's pitiful.
However , I am really glad we went. It is an eye opener to visit another part of these isles.

When I was at primary school, one of my friends was a Northern Irish Catholic boy. His dad was from Derry and over the years I have known lots of Irish from North and South of the border. I have been lucky enough to meet nobody other than absolutely delightful people.
I have made my first ever chili. I used Quorn mince and thought I had overdone the chili flakes but with a couple od spoonsful of soured cream each nacho boatload of chili was delicious to my relief.

There are a fair few shops closed in the city centre and I think that's because there are several very nice out of town shopping places. Also it's not that hard to go to other places if you have a car. Why were you staying in a part of town like that? There are some lovely well connected parts of the city. If I'm not staying at my daughter's I usually stay near the university or on the outskirts where the hotels have some room outside. I never stay in the centre it's too expensive and soulless.

Morning all: Some very interesting programmes on yesterday all about D-Day. My dad was at Dunkirk so it meant a lot to me to see some of the old soldiers there.

It's bright and VERY cold here today. I am off out soon, so I hope it doesn't rain later. Years ago I read a first hand account of one soldier's experience at Dunkirk. It was something I will never forget.
