We were babysitting and my grandson Sidney (6 y o) declared he could read minds šš I said "Ok then..what am I thinking ?" He looked steadily into my eyes and said "You are thinking that I am a marvellous boy.."
He was spot on šš

It was rather lovely at Costa del Loddon today, a bit like a Spanish holiday resort with sunshine, blue skies and sparkling waters - and even the sound of construction work for the ultimate verisimilitude.

If you speak of Asda's Nice Drop...Tickle, I can recommend the Trebbiano and the Chardonnay. The reds though...š They sell a really nice Rioja 'Espartero' - the joven and the reserva - both good and not wildly expensive. I don't drink white wine and the Nice Drop reds are good enough for a peasant like me. However, I will check out the Rioja you mention and maybe get some as a Christmas treat. Mrs Tickle drinks white occasionally - mainly when her cousin comes to stay - and I think she's had the Nice Drop of Chardonnay. Not sure about the Trebbiano. In a slightly spooky coincidence, a friend of mine posted on Facebook today that he was "Fascinated to discover that Malbec is permitted on a paleo diet, but not Chardonnay."

Morning all: Another storm on it's way now, we've missed it so far though it is very cold this morning. Well, went to the surgery yesterday. Doctor gave me a good examination. Both ears are infected with a fluid behind the ear drum. He said it would affect my chest as well as balance. He gave me a prescription for antibacterial ear drops and an antibiotic nasal spray. The chemist can't get the spray so will have to ring the surgery up today for an alternative.
Not feeling too good today, I've been out but shouldn't have done. Staying put now.

Grey and damp here this morning, after overnight rain. Forecast to be dry but cloudy for the next several hours, with skies clearing after dark. I haven't been outside, but I don't suppose it's particularly cold. Watched the TV news last night and the floods look pretty bad in some places - some properties flooded twice in a matter of months. Grim.

Final birthday treat, well almost, I am going to see Conclave on Sunday, but last night was the footie. I went to see Sunderland play West Brom. It was an average game and a freezing cold night, but it was still great. My only real gripe was that my son, doing his best, had bought better seats than I would normally and it was very quiet in those seats. I like to be in amongst it with all the youngsters singing their hearts out and the tighter crowd keeps the Baltic wind off you. I did not complain, it was very nice of him and after all you get a better class of racism in the posh seats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mind you I do wish Sky would revert to allowing games to start at 7.00pm. It is so late when you get out and have a metro and a bus home. I wonder how some of those kiddies will be coping in school today.
Still Ha'way the lads!

My first Professional football match seen in a stadium was West Brom too. They were at home at The Hawthorns. Apparently it was a favourite away venue for visitors, as the home crowd were welcoming and applauded them even if they won. It was a great improvement on the bitterly cold field our childminder dragged us 3 miles each way to, where her boyfriend was playing.

It is perishing cold here too. Bright and dry though, so mustn't complain. My cleaning lady took me to a warehouse where you can get all sorts of bargains today. I had never heard of it before. It was freezing in there, but stacked with stuff. I bought a few things- well about a trolley full and have been finding places to store it all ever since. I am exhausted now.

Great outing Hildie..a lot of mileage in a birthday if you play it right..š We will see Conclave next week and Bob's read the book (big Harris fan) so it's a must. Reviews are good too..
Poor Ron. That does NOT sound good. Stay put for a while I reckon.
Althea - what was the warehouse? I expect you bought stuff which the cleaning lady will be delighted with š

Yes, take it easy Ron and Riki.
I'm having a baking marathon for the College Christmas Fair. 6 cakes out of the oven and now I'm having a cuppa while everything cools down. Then it's cheese straws and an experiment. I have bought Christmas tree silicone moulds so you get an upright cake tree.
We will see about that later, lol!

Riki must be lying low... Well maris, it certainly hit the fan this morning, I went for my dressing change on my scalp and all was well no more visits at dermatology for now. However..... Earlier I received a call from the district nurse, along with the chat she asked me if I had received a discharge letter and medication, I hadn't received either, so I popped back into the urology department and ended up argument with a person behind the desk as she said I was discharged and tried to pack me of, I argued I had not had a discharge letter or my due medication and that they were negligent of not following the correct procedure and told her ask her to make me another appointment today, then I waited four hours to see a doctor as my catheter bag was still filling with blood, he stated the cause of the bleed was due to a swollen prostate was the cause of the bleeding and the medication would help to remove the swelling, now I will have to contact my doctor for some anti spasm tablets, never a dull moment here says mr knakard of Quinton. NB. I never got back home till 6pm.

Dear heavens Hildi you out me to shame with your baking. These days I struggle to take one thing to the WI. Unfortunately everything takes me ages to do and most of it has to be done sitting down. Iām looking forward to the day when I get the spine op I need.

Not really Toots I've just given up and didn't do the trees. I'm sitting with a cuppa watching Portrait Artist of the Year instead. My knee was giving me too much gip.
I'll get up early to whip the cream and finish up. Everything is done up to that point and I haven't made anything that needs a serious level of decorating.
Pear Crumble Cake, Lemon Cake, Chocolate Orange Cake, Jam Sponge with icing and sprinkles. In the morning I'll finish the pavlova and Black Forest thing - I wouldn't go so far as to say it's a gateau. Lordy no, Cake will do. Forgot there's a cherry and Almond loaf.
