I hadn't thought of that: I'll have a go, then.
The week before I got the Wodehouse one from the first few words of the Orwell quote that it began with; the students had to wait for the full question, which by the end practically told them the answer.
It's especially good when you know something that they don't though.

I often consult Orwell's essays and Journalism, and particularly enjoy the one he did about Wodehouse (Wodehouse wasn't so keen). Anyway, I just recognised the quote; more often I make a guess at it, but I'm not often far out - you know if it's a question about Romantic poets then there's not many to choose from. I'm completely lost on the Maths questions, which seem to need a different level of knowledge than the Wodehouse question: with Wodehouse you just need to be reasonably widely read, but with the math questions and a lot of the science questions you need to have had proper education, and to a pretty high level. And even then, with the Wodehouse, he gave the title of one of the Wooster books: to have been anything like the level of the (say) the maths questions (but still quite a long way below), the Orwell quote would have been enough.

Agree. With the maths ones, I don't even understand the question half the time! As you say, with literature or politics, you can often get it right just by the year... I usually get the classical music ones too. You made me think of a boy (who got a first in physics) saying to me "you're not that intelligent, but you do have exceptional knowledge" 😒

I thoroughly enjoyed it, everyone took a great part, some of the prison warders were brilliant. Stunning locations too! Must win something surely it was so out there and such a risk for a prime time slot.

Well done Norty. You are a woman of taste 😄
Line of Duty is a real nail biter...and what a cool cookie Roz is! I can't believe how/she turned the tables on Hastings in that interview scene. My mouth fell open 😁 He's a great actor isn't he? I am still no nearer to deciding who balaclava man is, are you? And that wound on Roz' arm... that will be her undoing. I shouted at the tv, why can't you see she's not using her left arm, you idiots!!!
Department Q- yes, love the two cops. Carl reminds me of a young James Coburn...

Thank you Maris, not often I get such a compliment. I rather fancy Carl tbh, and I've always had a soft spot for Adrian Dunbar Irish brogue and kind face. I began to wonder if it was the husband of Rox, now I'm thinking it's his smarmy lawyer!
