I remember the case, but even more I recall the fallout when her neighbours and friends found they'd been duped, lied to. That must be the basis for a drama as much as anything and might redress the balance for the innocent victims - the child and the community. I will probably watch it if I can.

Are you keeping up with Taboo? Gratuitous sex. Gratuitous violence. Black magic, dark arts and supernatural claptrap. I absolutely love it.

SILENT Witness star Emilia Fox has been praised by fans for her dramatic performance in the finale tonight, as her character Nikki Alexander managed to escape a locked COFFIN.
The gripping crime drama’s latest series came to an end tonight, as the forensic pathologist was forced to fight for survival in nightmare circumstances.
Any of you watch it?
I enjoyed it.

I absolutely loved it. I was so on edge thinking Nicki was going to die. What an ending, superb.

Sorry to go back to this but tonight is the story of Shannen Mathews on BBC1. I think it is disgusting they have made this drama, Karen Matthews served just 4 years of an 8 year sentence and her partner in crime served just 3 years. They will be enjoying the infamy and notoriety all over again. I used to like Sheridan Smith, a good actress but I will never watch anything she is in again.

I avoided it and watched a couple of things I had recorded. I think it is in very poor taste and just made to boost ratings. What the programme makers seem to have overlooked is what effect this programme might have on the daughter. She might well be in foster care, but I very much doubt her identity is that well disguised, if at all. They very rarely are unless people go abroad.

I did catch an interview with the detective involved who said she was glad the programme was made as it was truthful and redressed the balance in portraying the community, who responded so positively to that dreadful situation at the time.
In the end I didn't actually watch it even though I thought I would. I was not in the mood for bleak.

I wonder if the poor child involved was given any say in the timing of this, poor lamb I'm sure she didn't respond overly positively to it all. Thoughtless, there are lots of other stores they could bring to air, even an old case in a modern setting where nobody alive now could be hurt etc.

I read somewhere that the girl is now 18 which does not mean she is over the trauma she must have suffered. In fact, I just went to the supermarket this afternoon and glanced at the papers - there was Karen Matthews, front splash, saying 'there were others involved' - a story I am assuming she is being paid for.

Belatedly, I caught up with Apple Tree Yard...a moral tale really...in marriage, hold on to, and appreciate what you've got! A good man is hard to find. btw, who watches anything in real time these days?

Episode 6 of Taboo and so many unanswered questions! Acting, casting and sets are all excellent...but the story is just brilliant! Plus Tom Hardy is in it...
