No it was an election promise...that turned into an 'ambition'- so a lie. But Immigration isn't really the point. ..
I believed Nick Clegg on tuition fees... More lies.
It's this call that the referendum is invalid because of a lie or lies. We are being lied to all the time.

Politicians are good at that, look at them all falling over themselves to praise Theresa May having tried to stab her in the back yesterday. All we can hope for is that things now settle down, and we go on as normal

Well Gus. Not the old normal, that's for sure. I am not even sure what normal will be now! But sleeves must be rolled up... I hope.
I wouldn't want a snap election...we need a period of calm. But cabinet? I think Osborne has a good political mind - I would like him to be chancellor but having led the campaign maybe he's a no. I noted Liam Fox was at TMs side a lot today...job? Will Boris get a post? She and Gove dislike each other...

Banned for not being willing to tolerate persistent pathetic attacks on people who dared to vote the wrong way? You can keep your damn forum.

This saddens me. You'd have thought that at OUR age, for goodness sake, we could discuss without abuse.

This saddens me. You'd have thought that at OUR age, for goodness sake, we could discuss without abuse. Well I didn't see any personal abuse and wondered if the warning was something I had said. And it is a shame that the particular contributor was banned. He seemed to be able to discuss things rationally.

If individual posts are deemed offensive by our esteemed moderator, perhaps the post could be deleted...which would serve as a warning. I think we would all respect that.

Anyway...Brexit...heard Hammond this morning echoing May...we're all Brexiteers now! I would say that also includes me...if only for some forward momentum.
I wonder if TM will call an election...it's certainly an opportunity for her with Labour in disarray and ukip faffing about trying to find a leader. Have we got the stomach for it though? Will I find myself voting Conservative for the first time in my life? Told you I didn't have the stomach for it...😁

"Labour leadership contender Owen Smith wants a second public vote to approve any Brexit deal the UK strikes with the EU, according to a newspaper. Mr Smith told the Guardian there should be a general election or referendum "when the terms are clear"." www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-36792176

David Cameron is not the only senior British politician who has been clearing his desk this week. Jonathan Hill, the UK’s European commissioner, is also packing up, following his dramatic resignation after the Brexit vote.
On Friday Hill will shut the door on his top-floor office in the European commission’s Brussels HQ for the last time. The 18th-century oil paintings of British naval victories that line the walls will eventually be taken down and sent back to the government art collection in London.
When the clock strikes midnight on Friday the UK will have no representative at the top table of the EU executive for the first time in 43 years. In a deliberate and highly symbolic move, Hill’s portfolio – financial regulation that affects the City of London – will pass to Valdis Dombrovskis, the commissioner in charge of the euro.

Just hearing that expats in Spain are complaining that they are less well off following Brexit. I wonder if this is just another "...if we'd voted Remain this would never happen" stories. It's interesting that if statistics are correct, and these people had been living here still, they'd likely have voted Leave. Only one thing for it, cut down on the G&Ts...or come back?

Reading between the lines of what May is saying, we will leave..or not...depending on the deal we can strike...and so it goes on...
