I was watching footage of the demonstration in London and somewhat mystified. I believe the vote was democratic and to quote someone else (? ) "your country 'as voted to leave...what are you doing 'ere?" Shall we continue the "what next" discussion here ?

It hasn't been ratified by parliament* and won't be till after a general election, if then.
*A referendum is only a suggestion and is worthless in law.

I know, so what was the point of it then? Just to 'see what people think?'
It was interesting to listen to an African woman on the radio, now a British citizen, who voted Remain but said she still accepted the result as the democratic choice of the people. She went on," if like me, you come from a country which is NOT a democracy (even though it purports to be) you would highly value the democratic will of the people."

Whether it is a legally binding decision or not, it was the decision made by the people and to ignore it or overturn it would be immoral and a mockery of democracy. How do those suggesting this think the millions who voted to leave would react to such a decision? At least seventeen million people would lose any belief they still had in the integrity of their elected representatives. There would be rioting in the streets.

There is precious little trust in MPs as it is, if the referendum were overturned, there would be none.
If, as has been suggested, it is only a 'suggestion' and not binding, then why have millions and millions spent on both campaigns over months for a suggestion. An opinion poll would've been a cheap way of finding out what the electorate thinks!!!

Personally they can sling as much mud at each other as they wish but I will not have personal ( board member) sniping.Anyone who does will be warned then banned. In all the years this board has been going, only one person has been banned............. Don't be the second

Well Gus, I sincerely believe the 'camp' you describe will never materialise. As for Blair, after tomorrow he will be a brave man to put his head above the parapet - let alone advising anyone on anything! As for the slump in deals, that is another thing that I find strange about the vote, many businessmen knew this would happen yet still wanted to vote Leave. I do believe this dip will be short term and only arises out of insecurity wobbles. Once a PM is elected things will definitely pick up. I spose May will do... I don't think she's been a good Home Sec at all...apparently she's not liked in the department. No jokes I'd prefer to see Leadsom but the MOS had the knives out...the media chooses.

I don't know about anyone else but the more I read/see/listen to, the more I think it's been sheer madness on the part of Cameron to hold this referendum.
I also believed (daftly as it's turned out) that whatever the result, we would, as a country, say "Right..." and get on with it. That was certainly what I was prepared for. How wrong could I be?
I'm always interested in politics but I'm getting sick of this...particularly the acrimony between sides, never mind the limbo we are now in.

That's the irony - the media Brexit made great play about unelected bureaucrats in Brussels making decisions about our affairs, yet relying on unelected media moguls making decisions on our future Like my new avatar? I've chosen it to compliment the new descriptive name you gave me

I believe he was perfectly right to hold the referendum, it should have happened decades ago. But I share your frustration with the petty, sulky attitude of some in its wake.
