Will you give it a rest? Many, in fact most, of us voted to leave without being "influenced" by anything beyond our own experiences and opinions. Why can you not get it into your skull that seventeen million people with as much right to an opinion as yours and as much understanding of the situation as you just disagree with you? Your persistent refusal to accept this and constant denigrating of anyone on the other side of the debate is infuriating. The government are not going to overturn a decision made by a democratic vote, nor should they. This country is not a bloody dictatorship. The majority of those who could be bothered to vote, voted "leave". And that is that.

They just pressed a button on the pc. Had they been proper voters they would have gone to the polling station and voted, but that takes just a bit more effort.

As the lawyers have explained, the referendum has no legal standing. That is with Parliament And as plenty voted for Leave based on lies and prejudice one wonders how much credence Parliament should afford the referendum result I wonder why people are so defensive about this result and resisting a further referendum, methinks they fear the result a second one would bring In any event there will certainly be another general election shortly, and that result will be binding

Well according to Theresa May (shall I call her the PM?) she just said 'Brexit means Brexit and we are going to make a success of it'. That sounds pretty conclusive to me (a remain voter) and I am mighty glad to hear it! We have all got to echo that or forever remain ( ) in a state of inertia.

Any General Election is not going to automatically result in a new government overturning the result of the referendum, that would be political suicide. As for why we are being "defensive", it's because people like you are trying to drown out our voices when we have made our wishes known. If there was a second referendum, and your side won by a similar margin, do you seriously imagine it would end there? Would you expect sixteen million people to just accept that their votes had been overruled? So there'd be a third referendum, or else a bloody riot. Why the hell should the opinions of the Remainers carry more weight than those of the Leavers?

It's about accepting the will of the majority, instead of acting like a petulant child. That is democracy.

This is ludicrous. The 'lies' were not just on one side. You seem to be saying that a very high proportion of the 17 million voters were gullible. You obviously have very little time for opinions other than your own.
I gave my vote very careful thought. So did all my friends I have talked to about this.
If you are so incensed at the result Gus then stand for parliament and try and make a difference. Otherwise accept that democracy sometimes means that you don't get what you want. You get what the majority want.

Come on, the lies and false information poured out of the Leave camp Here are six www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/jun/07/eu-referendum-fact-check-david-cameron-leave-campaign-claims Most designed to appeal to the "little England" xenophobes I do not recall the Remain side telling any lies, just predictions which all seem to be coming true I don't need to stand for Parliament, the LibDems will pledge to rejoin the EU - I will just vote for them

I have made it very clear this board is here for people to enjoy.
Personal abuse will mean a total ban.

I do think that all this talk of 'lies' is a bit daft. If we had no access to information (we've never had more)... If we were denied an opposite view...(Remain actually shouted much louder!) If we lived in a vacuum, unable to hear/think/judge then there might be a point to the 'lies' accusations.
Cameron (with May as Home Sec) said he'd get immigration down to the 10s of thousands... Ah a lie! And people may have voted Tory on the strength of that promise. I note Cameron afterwards called it an 'ambition'...that's a long way from a promise. You'll find examples everywhere!

David Cameron said that he would get immigration down ever since he became PM, not just for the referendum Are you saying that immigration played a big part in the referendum result?
