Funny thing is I went to Dunelm this morning to buy some kitchen wall gadgets. They said they didn't have them in stock. So I came home and looked on their site. Hen it asked to check availability at your local store it said they have stock. So I ordered it as click and collect. I had an email to say it was ready for collection about an hour later.

Just sent off for an electric pressure cooker. Anyone got one? Has it arrived yet Arena? Having 10 minutes I thought I would tell the tale of a friend I worked with many years ago. His wife was taken ill just before Christmas and was in bed so he and his daughter aged about 12 decided to do some of the pre-Christmas food cooking. One part of that was cooking the ham in the pressure cooker. All was going well and the tally man knocked at the door. My friend opened the door and his daughter also went to the door, as any nosy 12 year old would. Behind them in the kitchen was an enormous explosion, and the ham bounced down the hallway and rolled past them onto the front path! Apparently what had happened is the ham had risen to the top and totally blocked the steam vent and the emergency valve. Pressure built up until the inevitable happened. Apparently his daughter had thought that since no steam was coming out of the steam valve she needed to turn the gas up a bit! I saw the aftermath and the plate rack above the stove was all twisted where either the ham or the lid of the pressure cooker had hit it with some force. They were both extremely lucky. The sequel was his wife made a very rapid recovery!

Why do companies send out faulty goods, we know that they are mainly "box sellers" but they should surely tighten up their stock control quality. Presumably they price the products to allow for "shrinkage" We recently had a new fridge/freezer delivered with a hole through the packaging and door, we assume from the prong of a forklift. It never left the van as re refused to accept it, how on earth did it get on the van in that state

I am terrified of pressure cookers due to my mother's adventures with them as I was growing up. I am still traumatised by the rice pudding explosion and the pea soup fiasco.

We have similar, both got RA in hands so anything rubber to grip a bottle top etc makes it much easier to open.

Just seen a couple of new gadgets......Oh oh here we go again.
Butter ..... keep it in the fridge, it's hard.Leave it out,it melts. BAH!
Gadget one: A battery heated knife.
Gadget two. Picture an aerosol can, you put a slice of butter in it...wait a minute and spray butter on your sandwich or whatever.

I love reading about your acquisitions 💗 You know they'll turn out to be cr*p don't you? But hey, acquisition is where the pleasure lies. Happy ordering! I paid nearly thirty quid (I know, I know) a couple of months ago for a butter dish guaranteed to keep butter cool. Guess where it is?

I would suggest one of these Arena. Directions for use: Fill with hot water Place knife in filled jug Remove to spread butter. Replace knife in jug when knife cools. The old ways are sometimes the best!
