Not far from where I live is a pub called The Flies Home by the locals. Anyone got strange pub names?

We have The Perseverance - not a particularly humorous name, but I do like the sign: it shows a distant Noah's Ark, and in the foreground, large, a snail on its way to join ship...
There are some revolting silly names, foisted on pubs in the past decade or so - The Monkey's Forehead comes to mind... Egham's The Victoria laboured on as The Iguana and now has been renamed again - the Burger King.

Can't think of any funny ones, js, but one of my favourite names was a place I used to go to years ago when I lived in Canberra called The Contented Soul. Nice little spot in Woden Plaza.
My local these days is The Stags Head. And it wasn't me I that left the apostrophe out!

I have nicknamed my local as 'The Harlots Arms'.
There is or was a pub near Stone in Staffs called the 'Labour in Vain' and the old pub sign had a cartoon type painting of a little black child in a sudsy bath with a woman scrubbing away at him.
New owners thought that was very un-pc and renamed the pub - I can't remember what it then became. There was a bit of a local protest lead I am proud to say by my oldest friend who argued that this was a piece of history. It got as far as him being interviewed on national radio, BBC R4
I can't remember the outcome, but sadly the sign is no more.

Used to go to a pub with a forgettable name that my drinking partner and I used to refer to as "The Name Escapes Me".

In Chichester there is/was a pub called The Slug and Lettuce. Nope, never fancied it.

There is a Slug and Lettuce pub chain, which has been around for nearly 40 years, so quite a few pubs so called now, including one in Reading. I'm not sure if that's the origin of the name or if it was stolen from earlier hostelries: I know there used to be a Slug and Lettuce in Winkfield near Ascot. Many years ago my drinking partner and I were photographed outside it holding a lettuce - his high octane Australian girlfriend used to voice the opinion that we were sluggish and even now he sometimes addresses me in letters as El Slugo. This pub either predates the chain or was one of the first it opened, although it seems an unlikely venue for that. Until recently there was a rather odd and oddly-named pub near us - The Magpie and Parrot.
