www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1932570/uk-riots-full-list-wednesdayThe Express has published a list of where protests/riots may take place today. It is only saying that they may take place because the list was leaked. It's definitely starting here already. People are gathering at the end of the road where I work, the police have told us to lock the doors. The Shell garage and local shops have all closed. It looks like they are heading for a residential area where a lot of Bangladeshi and African families live. Bastards! And shame on The Express for firstly finding this leaked list and saying how awful it is and then at the same time putting Farage on their front page!

That's been known for some time as talc is found very close to asbestos seams. Hence Johnson & Johnson having to cease producing baby powder, their most popular product. Talc is an ingredient in loads of makeup (foundation, eyeshadow etc)

Hildie, you do highlight a consequence that has featured for decades. People moving out. The density of population of one group then changes an area. I often speak to a lady (who's 86) at the bus stop - she talks to anyone 😁and she has recently moved here. She got married in Barking and lived there all her life (it's 8 stops down the line) Bit by bit, the area became almost wholly Bangladeshi Moslem - a self contained locality with their businesses and shops. The M&S Food closed, then the Morrisons closed and she told me there was nowhere she could even shop. She had her freedom pass so came to Upminster on the tube to shop. Then she thought, this is daft, I will just move. She was as at pains to say that none of the folk around her were horrible people, she just couldn't 'live' there.
As I have said before, I live in quite a middle class bubble - probably because of higher house prices. We do have a number of ethnicities here but integration is good and they tend to be professional types anyway who want somewhere 'nice' to live. As you know, I am RC and our parish congregation is very mixed now with loads of interaction and friendship. However, you do not have to go far (3 or 4 miles west) before that balance is gone and areas are weighted towards one group.
I have lived here all my life and things do change. When people come and want to embrace living here, it works - and works well. When one group dominates a whole area, it doesn't - they don't integrate - they have no need. And bit by bit, everyone else moves out. It is not a recipe for cohesion.
Oh.. morning everyone!

Hi maris, 30% of the people in Birmingham now identify as Moslems, IMHO we need to remove all religious aspects out the houses of parliament, or face a ticking bomb .

Yes...and that's all very well if you're younger, but NOT if you're a senior citizen. I went to the pharmacy about itching skin on my neck...the chap looked at it and handed me antihistamine tablets and some hydrocortisone cream...13 quid please! If I'd gone to the doc of course I would've got a free prescription! Mind you, the young lady in front of me wanted antibiotics for something or other and she seemed pleased to get them (and pay)

That we should declare this a secular country? They dId that in France, didn't they, which has done nowt to heal tension and division there. In fact, it breaks out all the time. That's my fear that's what'll happen here.

I know all about the moving out Maris. My neighbours next door and opposite were Muslims. Lovely people, genuinely nice. I used to give some of the children a lift to school.
I just couldn't do midnight prayers. Every night at 11.30 and 11.45 it seemed like a hundred alarm clocks going off. It was a terrace so I couldn't avoid it. Then the there was the meeting and greeting in the street, children crying, cars of people coming to visit or collect people.
If the men work in restaurants and takeaways, the women can't stay in the house alone. So they congregate in other houses and then their husbands/fathers etc come and pick them up.
If you weren't fast asleep by 10.30 you always got woken up. Sometimes you did anyway because a big argument would start outside.
I know it's cultural and religious. I am respectful and they would frequently say sorry if they knew there had been a lot of noise but in the end I moved.
