My Spanish isn't brilliant but I can be polite in hotels and restaurants. In that part of Spain, you really need it. However, Bob fancied a cigar and I went into the Tabacos but somehow came out with cigarettes 🙄 Oops. He said " No worries, I'll find a home for them" Walking along, there was a wizened old chap, no teeth, in a doorway, hoping for coppers. Bob handed him the packet of fags. Well, the bloke jumped up and nearly kissed him. It was like Christmas 🎁 We all shook hands and exchanged friendly greetings and went on our way. A nice encounter.

Another cold day here, cloudy but no rain. This morning my new food processor arrived and though it looks magnificent (ten functions) I assembled the bowl with the chopping blades and it wouldn't work. I think I did it right, but I can't have, as the blender and other functions work. Trying to get advice from the firm has been impossible, and Wayfair is not much better. Never again will I buy anything from Wayfair, it's back to good old Amazon for me. You can get through to them for help. I have tried to uncouple the blades from the round thing they go on, but it is stuck fast. I have two plasters on to prove I did try. Maybe my son will see something I can not. There is only a sketchy leaflet for instruction. The website is no help either.

Hi Althea, try putting your make and model of blender / food mixer into you tube and see if you can find any info there?

Yes, I was going to suggest the same as Riki, I always find You Tube good at problem solving. No, I wouldn't buy from Wayfair either. I have in the past but they are terrible on customer service. There's a programme about TEMU 7pm on Channel 4 tonight. They're another company to avoid. They send out rubbish and there's no way to contact them or get a refund.

I have a Magimix which I love, but washing it up takes up a lot of space. It makes nice pate.
It's been fine and dry with a breezy outlook. Now my gardener's been I can enjoy looking at my roses, (Lady of Shallot, Boscobel) without the overgrown wild parsnip and other umbellifers in the way.

Morning all: Could this be the start of summer? Very mild this morning with a nice day ahead.

Anyone remember Hedgehog crisps? My toddlers loved them because every packet they had earned a penny for the Hedgehog Hospital.
They were rejected by the Ad standards idiots because they were called hedgehog flavour but didn't contain any hedgehog ,as it told you on the back of the packet.
Does the word 'killjoy' come to mind?

There is only a sketchy leaflet for instruction. The website is no help either. I have a food processor which I bought a couple of years back. It is a Tefal - a robust heavy ol' thing - but good. However, when I first got it, I could never get it to work. There is a definite knack...first of putting the bowl onto the base. It has to be a certain way and turned until you hear the click. Same with the lid. Unless you hear a click as well when you turn that, it won't go. I wanted to throw the thing out. Then suddenly, I did it right! Since then, it's been a boon. I made a load of pastry yesterday then whizzed up a bug hunk of Parmesan cheese. I might make Nadia's curry sauce the weekend. It's cold enough for a curry - or even a stew....

I've got to get in the shower in a minute. I wish the heating was on... We stayed in a 16th century monastery (now a hotel) in Spain. Cold, thick stone walls - you can imagine.. But,as soon as you walked into the reception - bliss. They had the heating on. I wish I was there now. I'd be showering in comfort.

It is quite chilly today in the shade. I've got washing on the line and it's blowing hard. Should dry quickly If we don't have any more rain.

I always put the heating on for a short time when I shower. It's a "medical necessity". I have had two processors before this one and I agree, maris, there is a knack to them. This one is an absolute beauty. I have emailed the manufacturer and they are lovely. Their team is working on a way for me to uncouple the blades from the wide spindle it sits on. Last night I blitzed some roast beef in the blender jug. It was amazingly fast. I am glad I bought one with a powerful motor. I'm expecting to use it almost daily. It may just be that my hands are not strong enough to uncouple the blades. We will see. I am going to Mold market tomorrow with my friend and my eldest daughter is spending Sunday with me. I am going to do lamb shanks, with minted new potatoes and petit pois. With raspberry trifle to follow. It's a reason to cook, which I don't often do. I will blend my dinner, or maybe just the lamb.
