Got back now, we were tested but I couldn't go in with my wife. No problem, they were limiting the number in the hospital at any time so I had to sit and wait in the cafe area. It's such a nice day now, I got behind some big lorries on the dual carriage way so the car was dirty. Just been out and washed it.

Good day... Feelin decidedly unwell. Woke up at mid day, and took a long time to prise myself out of bed.... My Big Fat Ginger Aged Ginger moggy took action by stamping on me and shouting for food like a Fishwife.
Hope no-one else is in similar status...

I hope it's just the usual winter crap that we normally get at about this time.

I hope you feel better soon. Maybe it is just the time of year. I'm up at 4.30am come rain or shine, I wish I could sleep in but it's a life times habit. When I was working and did a week on nights I could never sleep in the day and was like a zombie by the end of the week.

Oh yes, I too did some Nightwork - A one-horse town called "Liverpool" - remember excediing difficulty in finding "digs" that could let you sleep during the day... Actually, that was my second time --- The First occasion was (same client) in another one-horse Town called "Newcastle". I did find digs way out of the town, where I could sleep during the day - except for the very noisy bedroom next to mine .... (don't ask)
In each case, incl a third one I now remember was in Bristol (working in a Bank's Money Secret Warehouse - Banks are supermarket retailer like any other). but The BIG problem is getting a Breakfast where the rest of the world is having their tea... Even more difficult getting money to pay digs/food/petrol when working in a place that didn't allow you to have any money of your own about your person.... and sure as hell, wouldn't leave any money in your car - especially Liverpool - in those days it was common for plastic cards to have "national failures" about getting money.
Where waz I? Oh Aubrey - A bit more complicated that General Moribundity... Over thge last few weeks a Certain Consultant has been instructed to get on with Minor ops that Hospitals have been very tardy about. His attempt was a miserable failure and I'm having extreme difficulty into goading him into doing his job, I won't go into his Plumbing failure...

There's nothing like a whisky at 8am after finishing a night shift.

Me too, though I do miss the comerarderie I had with all the nursing staff, doctors and surgeons. You were part of a team and we all had our own parts to play. I often look at the time and think about what they are doing right now in work. If I was 10 years younger with no health issues I would have volunteered in a second to go back to help out.

Welllll, I have to agree with Rondetto re working in the NHS... At one time work was sparse, and I worked (worked??) in Local gov, and it was Agony. I eventually went back to self employ, starting with a BIG Hospital in Central London. It was very difficult to get away from the principle of doing as one was told, no matter how worthless and pointless it was. The new boss asked me what I was doing - I told him.. Why? Just teach the Manager what to do - If He ignores you its Hiss Lookout? Totally different from Local Gov. But the office was terrible - I had to share the office with these Five, Beautiful, Clever, Witty and Very Helpful Dieticians - Terrible job.. I helped them, and they Helped me. Absolutely Nothing Like Local Gov... And you could get all the back-up you needed... (Incl a Gov Minister?). I only had one disagreement - Eventually I became the Officer Commanding the Office Tea fund... My Daily Constitutional included a Meander round the Block, including Hamleys Toy shop in Regent Street, where I found a Number Ten Meccano set for £999.00, so naturally I wanted to put up the price for the tea fund.... I was overuled by two of the dieticians.. One (Daughter of A Scottish Highland Farmer) and a Foreign Lady (Danish) both opined that London Tap water was disgusting, so they insisted that we buy some fancy device that filtered not only "solids" but "Liquids" from the tap... with its only waste directly away. They did make good tea though. But The office had "History"... Our office was an Old House including use by one of Queen Victoria's errent son, for his own entertainment? But His evening entertainment involved His Coach to Whitechapel... Anyone remember "Jack?" He is still "The man that a Police Detective College, would have liked to have interviewed him. But Yes... there was always an intention to Help ... I remember a Certain Proff blew someones expenses on a Tech Translater with a Skype instruction to a Surgeon in Japan...

Thanks for sharing, very interesting. Morning all: Mild again this morning though they say it is going to get much colder again by next week. Nothing to do or places we can go anyway. I started spring cleaning yesterday, cleaning wardrobes and dressing tables.

I am having a day off from the hospital today. I need a break for a few hours. It's very grim. The hospital staff are wonderful. If they call me, I will go in.
