Belated Happy Birthday,Ron. Sorry I haven't been online this week. I am having trouble with my eyes. It's been like looking through a mist. A bit better today, but roll on March 17th when I have my left eye done. Then the right eye done three weeks later. Life is so frustrating and difficult when you can't see.I understand what life must have been like for my poor OH during the last few years. I have been told my eye problems are probably stress related,as life has become very difficult.OH is going downhill fast and keeps doing unpredictable things, which he can't remember later. I can't leave him on his own, even for half an hour now. Luckily my good friend has offered to sit with him when I need to go out.It is such a help, not that I will ask her often. There is nothing that anyone can say that will ease your burden, senile dementia is an absolute swine with an inevitable progression.Do you get any respite care? 24/7 caring is so stressful and is not good for the carers health Thinking of you and wishing I could offer something XX Thanks Jimmy. Since OH is almost blind,it would be cruel to take him out of his environment and put him in day care.Sadly it is getting so bad I am looking into care homes. It's the last thing I want for him,but things are so difficult now it may be sooner rather than later. My friend will come and sit with him for an hour or two and that gives me a chance to go to the dentist,or bank,or do a little local shopping. It's not that I want to go out much, but it helps to know I have someone he knows well to sit with him.Stress is beginning to take it's toll on me.

It is very sad, but sometimes we have to face the inevitable. When the time comes that you can't handle him or be available 24/7 then he would be better off in residential. At least he would be looked after and cared for by people trained to care, that's not to say you are not caring it's just that sooner or later it's going to tell on your health and then you would be in real trouble. I've had it with my mother in law, my wife was there night and day cleaning her caring for her etc until she was drained. Eventually her mum went into a residential home and in fact she loved it. Her own room with tv, communal room where she could talk to others day and night.
