This wasn't urgent in that way. Do I have the right to refuse treatment?but oops: But he didn't want to go to the hospital (and I don't blame him: there are times when I've tried to avoid that). I still don't see what's PC about it either. Ok, lets be practical What would you have done to deal with and help this poor man?

I am spending HOURS with a friend with mental health issues. She needs help but is refusing. When a person is ill, in whatever way, but has capacity, you cannot force treatment. Just keep trying to get them to agree.

Well they were ineffective until the police turned up and had an instant result Left to "what they did" you would still be there putting the poor man and his family at further risk Sorry, this PC attitude is totally ineffective, the sooner it is banished the better

Should they have manhandled him into the ambulance, possibly injuring him or them-selves?

Good for you Are you suggesting that NHS workers should do likewise? If there's no one else, yes. You're living in Corbyn' La La cuckoo land, the NHS doesn't have the capacity and in any case we could not afford it. The way the mental health issue is growing we would need a NHS worker 24/7 to cope with everyone in the UK. Totally impractical

Only the police can section someone and they would only do that if they are a danger to others. If a person is refusing treatment, despite your own better judgement, if they have capacity, there's little you can do. If you care (whether relative, friend or paramedic) you keep trying to get them to do the sensible thing. Or don't you??

I didn't even turn the telly on last night. Checked the schedules. Dire. A bit better tonight as I will have Fake or Fortune (and Fiona 😒) then Strike. I quite like him...

I am looking forward to seeing Strike tonight. It is the last episode. It's not for the story though, I think I know who did it. I really like the actor playing Strike and the actress playing the secretary.

I understand what Bryan is getting at. He is saying that many resources were being used up by someone who didn't want treatment. I am of the opinion that if he didn't want treatment, the ambulance guys should have said,"Okay mate. We are needed elsewhere by people who do want treatment." I hate hospitals and have dodged going in once or twice, but I should have followed my doctor's advice because I was rushed in later anyway.
Following on from the previous topic. The curse of the latest page strikes again!
