Shooting and killings in Munich this evening It seems to be an everyday event, and security and safety of the citizens should be the first priority of every government Instead of spending billions on Trident pour government would be better spending the money on the police and security services. Our new Prime Minister talks about governing for everybody, all very well if you are wealthy or important and surrounded by private security but the rest of us rely on public services. As Home Secretary she presided over the reduction in our police numbers by nearly 20,000

I hesitate to say this, but we may see more of these crude attacks which do not require large scale coordination. That will make them harder to predict, and harder to fathom. Individuals using whatever they feel capable of...axe, lorry, gun.
Harder still to fathom is their thinking.

The Media gives the feeble-minded wings. I wonder what you mean by 'the media'? Certainly the internet is a factor...often these young men, it is found, do not even go to a mosque. No, they get their 'teaching' online, possibly using subliminal techniques. Easy to feed a young disaffected man a load of crap about who's to blame for his lot.

The "disaffected" is an apt term, "feeble minded" does not hit the mark The Munich shooter is apparently an Iranian/German who has lived in Munich for many years, and has suffered years of bullying. I have no doubt that there are plenty of young men, maybe some older, who will have grievances of one kind or another and who will seize the opportunity to copy these shooters - never mind the jihadists. Weapons seem to be readily available, how long will it be 'till this happens on the streets of the UK

I heard on the news that holiday makers are up in arms because the French security services want to conduct far more rigorous checks on who is coming into their country following so many atrocities. Can you blame them? If the UK had suffered three massive attacks in less than two years, do you think we'd be worried about moaning tourist queues? Damn right...be as safe as you can feasibly be.

I'm not clear as to where thee border checks are being made, in Dover or in Calais Whenever we travel through there we usually drive straight off at Calais, no problem This is just the French being their usual bloody minded selves, peak holiday travel time and they can't be bothered to put extra staff on. I'm surprised the air traffic controllers aren't having their usual two penny worth and striking

I think you'll find that since France is being targeted by terrorists, security has had to be stepped up. You seem to have a strange dislike of them Gus.

My view of the French was not helped by an enforced stay in Calais Intensive Care, apart from the excellent food They have always been unhelpful to us, and will strike at busy times to hold us up on our travels. They were always bad before Brexit but this action is unbelievable But I suppose if you say "I don't want to be in your club" it's no surprise that they are unhelpful I wonder how many of those stuck on the M20 voted Leave, wait until we leave the EU (assuming we do) and they have border controls at every country, visas, etc, to cope with

The majority of the tail-back appears to be caused by vast lorries. Presumably well be having a great deal less of them soon!

They now separate the traffic, lorries in one lane and cars in another - if necessary the lorries then go into a special holding area. Apparently delays were added to by people being out of their cars and not ready to move forward

The checks are taking place in Dover, where the French 'border' is...just as the UK 'border' is at Calais. I hear a lot of ferries have sailed practically empty.
If Schengen goes, (a nuts idea IMHO), it'll be a fixture. I wonder what's happening at the border with Belgium? Probably nothing, because they can't. In the face of the present situation, check who you can.

How many of the atrocities in France have been carried out by terrorists travelling from the UK, as far as I can see they have come from Belgium or Africa. Have the French imposed such stringent controls coming from those directions?
