Pity the Brits don't do the same Bry. They seem to moan about people not paying then don't ask them too......daft I calls it! I agree The NHS is part of the "dependency culture" so beloved by the controlling socialists, any attempt to make the slightest improvement or greater efficiency is met with howls of protest and panic that this crutch is to be taken away The more I think about this I am turning to the view that we would be better off with a different system such as is on offer on the Continent. It would certainly be more efficient and user friendly Would you pay for treatment,if no one asked you to? This has nothing to do with socialism but a lot to do with common sense.

Given personal health insurance I would be happy to pay, and get a better overall service. The specialist service from the NHS is brilliant but the general stuff like trying to get an appointment to see a GP is hopeless. Common sense goes out of the window if you are struggling with some ailment

I refer to the fact that half the Brits grumble on about Johnny Foreigner getting all he wants of the NHS and doesn't pay. Of course he doesn't if no bugger ask him to!

The NHS is in serious trouble and for those who can't and would never be able to afford to pay for health care that takes us back to a time when the poor died and nobody cared! When I say nobody cared most of you will know what I mean!
The NHS was, and still is, the greatest health care ever to come into the UK.
To go down the route of privatisation is the disaster that we can see across the pond as they say. We need to fight for our NHS in any way we can.
The demonstration on Saturday showed the feeling there is among health professionals - did you see this on the BBC? No, because they didn't think it was of interest to the public! What an absolute load of tosh! What is going on behind closed doore re the NHS should scare us all - it certainly scares me!

Quite right, so they should pay and pay more than the charges proposed Stand by for the howls from the that this is a step towards privatising the NHS and demands for more money to be injected from the state. We all know how they love spending other peoples money

The regulations are there to collect money from those who are not entitled to health care on the NHS. The fact that this is hit and miss is surely up to the management. The top heavy pen pushers don't inspire me with confidence, too ma&ny chiefs and not enough Indians syndrome.
I know he won't answer my posts but I'll say it anyway. To call people '' all the time and fail to see what the very right wing government is doing says it all.
I have said I am a socialist and I can't see that ever changing - especially in the current political climate. Being called a socialist is fine by me but using 'leftie' as a term of abuse, which I assume is what you are doing, is really not on.

We all know how they love spending other peoples money It's a side issue, and it wouldn't make any difference: and it's always something brought up by righties to hide what the Tories are doing to the NHS.

Common sense goes out of the window if you are struggling with some ailment It would cost a lot more and the service would be worse, as it is in the US. And a hell of a lot of people would not be able to afford it and have to go without treatment, as in the US. My GP service is excellent. If you want to be seen straight away just turn up at 8.30am and you'll be seen by 10.
