My morning moan is that I don't know whether to wear sandals, shoes, or wellingtons! The weather is too changeable!

My morning moan is that I don't know whether to wear sandals, shoes, or wellingtons! The weather is too changeable! Sandie Shaw had the answer

I wore sandals this morning but I need wellies this afternoon. I feel sorry for all those at Royal Ascot, spent a fortune on their outfits and presumably can't or won't wear wellies

Wellingtons plus a pretty floral dress is so sweet.

My morning moan is that I don't know whether to wear sandals, shoes, or wellingtons! The weather is too changeable! In all my 89 years I have never relied on the English weather nor the ruddy weather forecasters. Even they got it wrong just before D-Day and it was through an ordinary chap who had studied the English weather for 23 years who finally managed to persuade those in charge of that momentous time to delay the D-Day landings until the next day which we all know was June 6th 1944.

I remember holidaying in a cottage on the seafront in St Ives. Every day there would be an old boy sitting on the sea wall, and we used to ask him what the weather today would be. He would screw his face up, look to the sky and tell us his forecast. He was 100% accurate On our final day I congratulated him and suggested he make a career with his forecasts in the local media. He replied "I just listen to the local radio forecast every morning" These days I just open the blinds in the morning and see what the weather is doing

My dear father told us that he was given a mustard-plaster as a child when unwell. Thankfully he didn't employ such medication for me and my brother !

We had the vile cod liver oil and malt daily, and any chest infection received Vick slapped all over our chest at night time. Your bed reeked of menthol afterwards

I love the smell of Vick, Jimmy! When I was ill earlier this year, I inhaled Vick in hot water. I had never done that before. I will in the future!
And I love malt with cod liver oil. I haven't had any for years but when I did buy it in the past, one spoonful was never enough!

I love malt and cod liver oil, have it daily. In Boots they usually have 3 jars for the price of two.

I took my wife to her brothers this morning, when I picked her up I was driving on the dual carriageway when it comes to a 30 mph area I slowed to about 27mph and a car overtook me and he must have been doing at least 40mph. I just hope if the camera was working he gets fined and not me. I always stick to whatever the limit is.

With a towel over your head and over the bowl of Vick/water I found that rather claustrophobic and could not do it

If you drive on the motorways you do not have a choice, everybody belts along at 90mph and you have to go with the flow
