Oh yes, Dick Barton. I used to listen to that and the extreme punishment was not to be allowed to listen. Yet somehow I used to be allowed to listen to the repeat! My dad was not quite as hard as he pretended to be! And don't forget Biggles. Somewhere I have a signed first edition of one of the 101 books he wrote. I think my favourite non pc title was this one:

I'm ashamed to say Peter Wyngarde? He had a spectacular fall from grace after being caught in public toilets doing things he shouldn't have been doing He also had a long relationship with Alan Bates

edit Someone's got it on Pinterest as Jo March as well, so... But it's a colour version of a small copy I had pinned on the wall over my desk for years, and there is was Charlotte (from the Radio Times, I think).
