Look at the post above yours, Bryan.
That is privatisation.
Private companies profiting from being given contracts to provide NHS services, and even suing when they don't get the contract.

I rail at new-arrival Brits, who tell French people that the NHS is free. Either they are on assistance or they don't know how to read a pay slip:)

The NHS is so efficient and cost conscious. Only an organisation such as theirs could pay £1,500 for a £2 pot of cold cream But that is typical of the Left who love to throw away other people's money, our money. Perhaps it is time to "privatise" the NHS and get rid of this cash greedy inefficient monster and switch us all to personal health insurance such as they have in Europe. Works very well over there, where if you need a doctor they would be queuing up at your door

I believe that is still the same for visitors to the UK despite various attempts and threats to stop this. Plenty of cases of heavily pregnant women from Africa arriving to visit relatives and conveniently going into labour whilst here

Of course the NHS outsources work, it's called efficient use of funds I had a CT Pet scan done by a private company who's equipment is situated in the grounds of our local hospital. Swiftly and efficiently organised by a couple of technicians and a receptionist I also had a MRI scan done by the NHS own staff in the same hospital that needed an army of technicians once the admin dept (more staff) were pushed to organise it at goodness knows what total cost All this of course frees up funds for more patients elsewhere, a point that the Left always ignore BTW I did not have to pay a penny for these scans, nor for the preceding cancerous tumour removal at a specialist hospital 170 miles away. All done so quickly it seems like a dream, all on this failing NHS that the Left keep telling us about. They have no idea

Money is saved by lower pay for staff, and by the skimping that private organisations do. Oh, and that money paid to Virgin for their not being given the contract was a big saving, wasn't it?
And how about those contracts that mean that a light bulb has to be changed by the company, at £10 a time?
I had dialysis in a private place (when the NHS place was overcrowded). The sandwiches were better, the nurses were sometimes the same: but the machines were older, and more prone to breaking down.
And what happens when Virgin health go bust? I know: it can't happen: it couldn't happen with Carilion either.

Private companies are not more effficient, except when it comes to paying tax: look at Virgin's tax arrangements, and see how much tax they pay on their businesses here; and then say that's good for the NHS.

In France everyone is treated in hospital 'free-at-point'. Those who do not have complete cover are billed after. At the doctors you present your Carte Vitale, if you have one, otherwise you pay cash.

I was rushed to Calais hospital after collapsing at the ferry port First thing they demanded to know was how I would pay but was admitted on my EC1 card

The man who might have thrown the first punch at the Rees Mogg demonstration: the man who did: (Momentum were not involved with the protest, by the way: it was Bristol Anti-fascists, who were about to leave when the white-shirted bloke got involved.)

I agree The NHS is part of the "dependency culture" so beloved by the controlling socialists, any attempt to make the slightest improvement or greater efficiency is met with howls of protest and panic that this crutch is to be taken away The more I think about this I am turning to the view that we would be better off with a different system such as is on offer on the Continent. It would certainly be more efficient and user friendly
