I have always loved cartoons and regularly watch clips on youtube - anything by Max Fleischer

There are three 20 minute Popeye cartoons like the one above, I think based on 1001 Nights stories, that are wonderful; I remember them being shown in place of the ITV news when there was a strike one time (well, three times, one for each day), in about 1978 or 9. Foghorn Leghorn is my favourite, though I have been known to weep at the end of What's Opera, Doc? ("What do you expect in an opera - a happy ending?") Otherwise, Studio Ghibli in general: their latest, When Marnie Was, there would be wonderful to watch even if the story had been dull; as it is, it's almost overwhelming.  I can't stick that modern Pixar 3d animation though. |

I just discovered a couple of days ago that the actor who plays Morpho in Jess Franco's Vampyros lesbos, José Martínez Blanco, also did the voice of Widimer in the Spanish (I presume) version of Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds.   Also, nothing to do with cartoons, but with Children's TV: the composer of the music for 30 or More Franco films, the Yorkshireman Daniel White, also did the music for the 60s Belle et Sebastien. Isn't film history amazing? |
