Eric Victor Burdon (born 11 May 1941) is an English singer-songwriter best known as a member and vocalist of rock band The Animals, and the funk rock band War and for his aggressive stage performance. He was ranked 57th in Rolling Stone's list - The 100 Greatest Singers of All Time. Burdon was lead singer of The Animals, formed during 1962 in Newcastle, England.

Beryl Burton, MBE OBE (12 May 1937 – 8 May 1996) was an English racing cyclist and one of Britain's greatest ever athletes. She dominated women’s cycle racing in the UK, winning more than 90 domestic championships and seven world titles, and setting numerous national records. She set a women's record for the 12-hour time-trial which exceeded the men's record for two years.

Roger Joseph Zelazny (May 13, 1937 – June 14, 1995) was an American poet and writer of fantasy and science fiction short stories and novels, best known for The Chronicles of Amber. He won the Nebula award three times (out of 14 nominations) and the Hugo award six times (also out of 14 nominations), including two Hugos for novels: the serialized novel ...And Call Me Conrad (1965), subsequently published under the title This Immortal (1966) and then the novel Lord of Light (1967).

Sir Andrew Barron Murray, OBE (born 15 May 1987) is a British professional tennis player from Scotland currently ranked world No. 1 in men's singles.Murray grew up in Dunblane and attended Dunblane Primary School. He and his brother were present during the 1996 Dunblane school massacre, when Thomas Hamilton killed 16 children and a teacher before shooting himself.

I loved his story A Rose for Ecclesiastes, in which he makes the work of a translator seem as exciting as any other exploration; and there is a great line in it where he describes something (a communications device, I think) as having the thickness of a poet's first volume.

His father was a carpenter and he attended Tavistock Secondary Modern School, Croydon and Croydon Secondary Technical School. Roy Hudd was the first comedian I was aware of. I remember being in the house on my own once time and wanting to listen him on the radio but not understanding how the stations worked, and then going next door to ask them how to do it (they were not impressed: I was only supposed to go there in an emergency, and my idea of what constituted an emergency did not match theirs).

Jonathan Michael Richman (born May 16, 1951) is an American singer, songwriter and guitarist. In 1970 he founded the Modern Lovers, an influential proto-punk band. Since the mid-1970s, Richman has worked either solo or with low-key, acoustic and electric, backing. Currently, he plays only acoustic to protect his hearing. He is known for his wide-eyed, unaffected and childlike outlook, and music that, while rooted in rock and roll, is influenced by music from around the world.

Andrea Jane Corr MBE (born 17 May 1974) is an Irish musician, songwriter, and actress. Corr debuted in 1990 as the lead singer of the Celtic folk rock and pop rock group The Corrs along with her three elder siblings Caroline, Sharon, and the Mancorr. Aside from singing lead vocals Corr plays the tin whistle, the ukulele, and the piano.

Alice Beer (born 17 May 1965 in England) is an English television presenter, and was educated at the North London Collegiate School, a girls' independent school in Edgware, Middlesex. A trained journalist, Beer's first job in 1987 was as a secretary on the BBC programme That's Life!. Since then she has worked her way up to being a researcher, producer on Kilroy and Gloria Live.

Don Martin (May 18, 1931 – January 6, 2000) was an American cartoonist whose best-known work was published in Mad from 1956 to 1988. His popularity and prominence were such that the magazine promoted Martin as "Mad's Maddest Artist." We used to have this:
