Jerome Klapka Jerome (2 May 1859 – 14 June 1927) was an English writer and humorist, best known for the comic travelogue Three Men in a Boat (1889). Other works include the essay collections Idle Thoughts of an Idle Fellow (1886) and Second Thoughts of an Idle Fellow; Three Men on the Bummel, a sequel to Three Men in a Boat; and several other novels. He added the surname Jerome, being born Jerome Klapka.

He added the surname Jerome, being born Jerome Klapka. Me and my brother once listened to a tape of Bummel while working. There was one point where we couldn't do anything for laughing. I've never found that bit when I've read the book in print; it was probably just the moment, creating a negative (but positive) feedback between us. Really, we were weeping with it. And that kind of holiday seems a wonderful thing to do, or to have done back then anyway.

Sandra Brigitte "Sandi" Toksvig (born 3 May 1958) is a Danish/British comedienne, author and presenter on British radio and television. She currently presents The News Quiz on BBC Radio 4. Born in Copenhagen, Toksvig began her comedy career at Girton College, Cambridge University, where she wrote and performed in the first all-woman show at the Footlights.Toksvig is mother to two daughters and a son. The children were carried by her then-partner, Peta Stewart, from whom she separated in 1997, and were conceived through artificial insemination by donor Christopher Lloyd-Pack, younger brother of the actor Roger Lloyd-Pack.

I used to work with a woman who lived below Sandi Toksvig in a house in Chiswick; they had a running argument about my friends' sons leaving their bikes in the downstairs hall. She didn't know who Toksvig was, and it was before she was on TV a lot anyway - I knew her from No 73, and I think from the Comedy Store.

Alice Pleasance Liddell (/ˈlɪdəl/; 4 May 1852 – 16 November 1934), known for most of her adult life by her married name, Alice Hargreaves, inspired the children's classic Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, whose protagonist Alice is said to be named after her. Alice Liddell was the fourth child of Henry Liddell, Dean of Christ Church, Oxford, and his wife Lorina Hanna Liddell.

Tim Wonnacott (born 3 May 1953) is a Chartered Auctioneer, Chartered Surveyor, English antiques expert, and a television presenter. He has been Director of one of the world's oldest auction houses, Sotheby's. Wonnacott is best known for his appearances as a presenter on BBC TV programmes, including Bargain Hunt. Wonnacott was born in Devon.He married Helen (born August 1956) in 1984 and they have three children.

Michael Wayne Rosen (born 7 May 1946) is a broadcaster, children's novelist and poet and the author of 140 books. He was appointed as the fifth Children's Laureate in June 2007, succeeding Jacqueline Wilson, and held this honour until 2009. Michael Rosen was born in Harrow, London. The family background is Jewish, "from the Jewish East End tradition" as Rosen puts it. An internet 'friend' to some on this board, from our days on the BBC forum.

Phyllida Ann Law (born 8 May 1932) is a Scottish actress. Law was born in Glasgow, the daughter of William and Megsie Law. She was married to actor Eric Thompson from 1957 until his death in 1982. Their daughters, Emma and Sophie Thompson, are both actresses. She has appeared in many documentaries and interviews concerning her late husband's work on The Magic Roundabout.

Barbara Kathleen Vera Woodhouse (née Blackburn, 9 May 1910 Rathfarnham, Ireland - 9 July 1988, Buckinghamshire, England), was a well known British dog trainer, author and television personality. Her 1980 television series Training Dogs the Woodhouse Way made her into a household name in the UK. She married Dr. Michael Woodhouse in 1940 and moved to Wiltshire. They had three children, Pamela, Patrick and Judith. She died on 9 July 1988 following a stroke, aged 78.
