Jaroslav Drobný (12 October 1921 in Prague, Czechoslovakia – 13 September 2001 in London, United Kingdom) was a former World No. 1 amateur tennis champion as well as being an ice hockey player for the Czechoslovakian national team. He left Czechoslovakia in 1949 and travelled as an Egyptian citizen before becoming a citizen of Great Britain in 1959, where he died in 2001.  Why Drobny? I played tennis against him, when I was sixteen. He only just beat me 6-0 6-0.............  |

Born in Halifax in the West Riding of Yorkshire, Pickles was a proud Yorkshireman, and having been selected by the BBC as an announcer for its North Regional radio service, went on to be an occasional newsreader on the BBC Home Service during World War II. |

Wilfred Pickles OBE (13 October 1904 – 26 March 1978) was an English actor and radio presenter. Born in Halifax in the West Riding of Yorkshire, Pickles was a proud Yorkshireman, and having been selected by the BBC as an announcer for its North Regional radio service, went on to be an occasional newsreader on the BBC Home Service during World War II. "What's on the table Mabel" Give 'em the money Barney" He had a daughter who was an actress, I remember her playing Madame Bluebell. What happened to her?

Ok, I know it's not her birthday but we bought a birthday card today for a relative who is 90 years. We chose one of these that lists other famous people born in the same year and included in the list was Marilyn Monroe
Amazing to think that she would have been this age, to put it in perspective she could have been for example Camilla Parker Bowles mother
