Received the following today on e mail....
Who the hell designed the pigging stupid plastic ring pull in the top of oil bottles? What's the matter with just the sealed cap? Why oh why do they have to put us through the trauma of trying to get our arthritic fingers into that stupid plastic ring only for it to break in half, leaving us trying to cut out the centre of the top so we can get the oil out to cook something!!!?
I replied with my pet hate.....that packaging, with a corner of the plastic top, telling us how easy it is to open!!!!

I find the metal ring pull on cans, of things like peas and baked beans, just impossible. More strength than I have in my hands is needed to pull these things so the lid pops open. So I just don't buy any more.
Just to add, I heat a metal skewer and poke a hole in the the lids of things like bottles of oil, and also such as flash liquid.

A friend gave me a small, rubbery mesh sheet, about the size of a hanky. Great for unscrewing lids.

I've got something similar, it's invaluable for me. Before I got it I had to go to a neighbour for help.

Shirt puller? My mind boggles (never having worn one)
ps thanks for the picture. The can opener looks interesting. I have an electric one, but essential bits have fallen off.
Just googled MultiAT and sadly these items are not on sale. They were designed but need money for further development.

I have to take pills everyday. I do wish they'd print the days on the package,so I can be sure I've taken it.

You certainly need a PhD in packaging to open some of it
But what continues to piss me off is the amount of packaging. I don't want my apples on a polystyrene tray covered in plastic. I pay for that. Nor do I want to gut and fillet a shirt when I buy one.
Could be a sensible idea to charge packaging at a higher tax rate.

How about "Open Here" on packets of biscuits. I would lock the makers in a room with no other food and see how long they lasted

I usually get a knife and cut across the middle, then drop the biscuits out of each half. If I'm lucky some of them don't break!

I think the security tags on bottles of booze take some beating to negotiate!
Seriously, I bought a bottle of Scotch in a newly opened supermarket some years ago. And when I got home the security tag was still on it. Needs must, the shop by then was shut and I had a visitor who also liked Scotch. Half an hour later with the aid of the saw on my Swiss army knife we were in! And I kept the bottle, complete with mangled tag and used to re-fill it. I got some very odd looks when I offered people a drink and got that bottle out of the cupboard.

I too resort to that and usually manage to scrape a bit of chocolate off the choccy digestives But why should we have to do that, I'm thinking of the elderly who like their biscuits but with their limited abilities must struggle I can remember when you bought biscuits loose out of square tins, the broken ones being sold off

Remember when pubs used to sell arrowroot biscuits? I don't remember that Arrowroot is often used to bind you up if a bit "loose"
