Waste!

I watched the second part of Hughs War on Waste last night. Hugh Fernley Whittingstall. On the whole excellent and I have signed his petition, together with as of this morning 92000 others. I would have signed it last night but the website crashed! Watch it if you want to get the blood pressure up!
One thing which he highlighted was the staggering amount of stuff which is dumped because of the absurd cosmetic standards imposed by supermarkets. He asked the question, 'who do we value more, those that grow our food or those who sell it to us'
wastenotuk.com is where you will find the petition.
Some of us here grow our own. Do we care if we get a wonky parsnip or an apple with a blemish? I don't but I am amazed that when I bring fruit in here some people won't touch it because it is not neatly wrapped in a plastic shield.

Typical of the indoctrination, permitted on TV and encouraged by the press. Bacteria(eg) has become synonymous with ill-health. Nothing could be further from the truth.

We would all be dead without it. Many years ago I had a severe throat infection. I rarely go to the doctor but since I was taking the family on holiday thought I would go and get fixed up. How wrong was I! He gave me a course of antibiotics. and since I never took pills the results were pretty awful because they killed not only the throat infection but most of the 'good' bacteria in my body that keep me functioning. First I had the biggest case of being bunged up known to man. 10 days into the holiday I had to find a doctor who gave me suppositories. The 'end' result was not a pretty sight. Second I had skin infections you would not believe. I am not exaggerating when I tell you a moth or so later I counted 68 boils on one arm. They joined up. I itched in places that are both painful and embarrassing to scratch. And it took the best part of 18 months to get well again. Bring on the bacterial I say.

Most of today's allergies are caused by over-zealous parents. How many kids in your school had one? The dire consequence is that many allergens are now so badly dissipated as to be useless. Think bad bacteria saying...what doesn't kill, me makes me stronger.
