What a great painting...not seen it before. Fantastic impressionism and loaded with meaning.
I didn't know him or his work at all - having looked at his paintings now, I can see why he was celebrated as a portrait artist (definitely of the time) but they were the ones I liked least. His observations of people/situations are brilliantly executed.

A painter of water colours that I have always liked ,is Sir William Russell Flint.
It is very difficult to paint white,I have found.Russell Flint was brilliant at using white.
He painted many styles.
