My names are James Stewart. You've guessed it - my Mum was a big fan of his. Were you named after anyone?

I'm a Christopher - I'm just glad they didn't follow it with 'Robin', but the more prosaic 'John'.
My father was Edward, with no middle name and he felt short-changed all his life over that!

My middle name is the same as the husband of an aunt. He was killed on the day I was born.

I was named after some mad old Aunt, I think. Yes, thanks Scorples; most appropriate, I'm sure More interestingly, my son was named after Tim Brooke-Taylor (just the Tim bit, not the surname) A few years ago I was in hossy and my boy bought me a get-well card. As it happened, on the same day T B-T was in Melbourne - for the comedy festival maybe; can't remember, and Tim the Son met him and introduced himself, and explained the provenance of his name (and also got T B-T to kindly sign my get-well card). T B-T was apparently quite unsettled by the incident; so much so that he mentioned it in his next show - as told to me by a woman at work. He just couldn't believe he was old enough to have a great hairy six-footer named after him!

Some horses have strange names, and occasionally people after my own heart try and slip a funny one though the scrutiny of the Jockey Club.
Very rarely do they succeed, but one that did get through was a horse called Hoof Hearted.
And one of the best archive recordings I heard was the commentary on a race where Hoof Hearted was contesting the lead!

I gave up watching show jumping when they started calling horses Everest Double Glazing, etc.

I don't like it when they change a pub name from the Rose say and make it the Slug & Firkin or something
