One thing that pisses me off is rolls of toilet paper with glue which seems to extend to half way through the roll. By the time you get to usable bog sheets you have one hell of a lot of torn up bits of loo paper all over the out house floor
(Wait a minute - half way through a roll would be the centre, but I am sure you get my drift)

One of those euphemisms much beloved on Fleet Street. Along with:
A source near the Palace.... ...a lot of people are unhappy with... ...suggestions that the EU will...

The icecaps are growing rapidly. Were the 'experts' wrong, yet again?

That seems pretty conclusive.

In what way conclusive? Do you mean everybody can stop bothering now? The trend goes on, never mind the blips!

What trend? The same trend as the ozone layer?

The trend in planetary temperature - don't ask me what it's called, the mean something... anyway, it's a steady upward slope.

Are we talking about the myth that man has created global warming or the fact that temperature variation, both up and down, have been occuring since the planet formed?

A change in our climate however is taking place very sensibly. Both heats and colds are become much more moderate within the memory even of the middle-aged. Snows are less frequent and less deep. They do not often lie, below the mountains, more than one, two, or three days, and very rarely a week. They are remembered to have been formerly frequent, deep, and of long continuance. The elderly inform me the earth used to be covered with snow about three months in every year. The rivers, which then seldom failed to freeze over in the course of the winter, scarcely ever do so now. This change has produced an unfortunate fluctuation between heat and cold, in the spring of the year, which is very fatal to fruits. From the year 1741 to 1769, an interval of twenty-eight years, there was no instance of fruit killed by the frost in the neighbourhood of Monticello. An intense cold, produced by constant snows, kept the buds locked up till the sun could obtain, in the spring of the year, so fixed an ascendency as to dissolve those snows, and protect the buds, during their developement, from every danger of returning cold. The accumulated snows of the winter remaining to be dissolved all together in the spring, produced those overflowings of our rivers, so frequent then, and so rare now.
Thomas Jefferson, Notes on the State of Virginia, 1785

The self-opinionated prats who have put little Aysha and his family through hell, before condoning what they set out to do in the first place! Sue the buggers!

Had the authorities simply said that it was a parents right to take a child out of hospital and the child died can you imagine the furore? Bear in mind that for a couple of days they did not know where she was so maybe a European arrest warrant was the only way to find her. However, sanity has been restored, and was in fact restored rather fast after she was found.

Er - he, actually... The treatment that are seeking in Prague will, I read, be available in the UK, but not for a couple of years.
Of course, learning that the parents are JW, many of us jumped to the conclusion that that was the reason for the child being snatched.

Yes of course it was he, a silly typo I will confess that my first though when he disappeared from hospital is that they had taken him away so he could die in peace with his family. I am glad that is not the case. I guess his chances of survival are slim, but what parent would not try just about anything to save a sick child.

I have been walking early evening with my foster dog.
And I get pissy about people who have the curtains wide open watching a cinema size TV. It is almost a 'look what I have got' mentality.
I am tempted to find a 12" Black and White set and put it on in the dining room, which faces the road.
